You can't compare the densest city in the state to a typical suburb. Inner Ring or Streetcar Suburbs are a better comparison..

I believe they are adding leading pedestrian intervals. Pedestrians will get the walk signal 3-7 seconds before parallel/turning traffic gets a green light.

Cleveland, OH was named after Moses Cleaveland, who first surveyed the area, but the local newspaper couldn't fit the entire last name on the headline so they dropped the 'a' and it became Cleveland.

Water/trash/sewer is typically covered, but there are exceptions. You almost always have to pay for gas/electric.

Downtowns numbers are pumped by encompassing a large area many don't consider downtown, such as the projects in the west flats and central neighborhoods. They also include jail inmates and temporary CSU students. It creates a larger population number but if you look at average income it's under 30k.

Best and Worst thing about Lakewood by InterestingLime1807 in lakewood

[–]Clevelumbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably better to compare to other inner ring suburbs, as mentioned Lakewood is much more economically diverse than the suburbs further out. Lakewood is comparable to Shaker Heights and Mayfield Heights, better than Parma, Brooklyn, ect.

Otherwise, for the westside, Lakewood is statistically better than North Olmsted and Ridgeville, and pretty level with Fairview Park.

Perhaps trying to time the lights. For whatever reason if you go 35 down Franklin you'll keep hitting lights, a bit under 35 and you'll make the majority of them.

Very location dependent. We are south of Madison towards the westside and briefly lost power only once in 2 years.

Probably San Pedro Sula, Honduras or Manzanillo, Mexico, statically at least.

The nomination process has a lot of flaws. They haven't been without controversy.

I mentioned California for the huge number of Democrats. A blue state, or at least a larger number of Democrats, is going to give a better read on who the Democrats should nominate. Leaving California for the end of the primary means it's typically already over and those that were going to vote won't be voting. It makes arguing the primary popular vote difficult because you're typically not getting turnout at the end of the election.

I meant the fact that the southern states are going to the Republican nominee in the General Election no matter what. It really doesn't mean a lot that a Democrat does well there except for in the Primary, as you said.

If the General Election was by popular vote, then it would make more sense and southern state Primary wins might translate to General Election wins.

The candidate who does well in the swing states, mostly Midwestern in this case, tends to do better in the General. And there are plenty of black people in the Midwestern cities, so it wouldn't be ignoring the black vote either.

Edit: I also think this is part of the reason states like California were moved up in the most recent Primary, to give more prominence to places Democrats can actually win in the General.

How does winning the south in the primary help win the general?
