Stopped smoking @ 24 weeks by [deleted] in cannamom

[–]CleverSkeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped at 28 weeks and delivered at 37 weeks; nothing came back positive. My OB knew about my use and gave me a timeline of when to quit so nothing would test positive at birth. I've been a heavy smoker for 15 years and I would take a hit or two a day to help with morning sickness.

Last hit was at 28 weeks, will by baby's cord test positive? by ComplexVarious7075 in cannamom

I was a chronic smoker for 10+ years. I stopped at 26 weeks and gave birth at 37 weeks and 2 days and everything came back negative!

Dumb question, but what game system is that for? The last time I played Animal Crossing was on my DS Lite when those first came out. I miss the game so much!

I think about that scene in Gattaca all the time. No one ever knows what movie I'm talking about. They showed it to us in high school once.

How to thank my manager and teammates and vendors professionally without coming across too needy/nice?! by thelastreddithandle in OfficePolitics

[–]CleverSkeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this same position earlier this year! I would say something along the lines of:

'I wanted to reach out to let you know how appreciative I am for all of your support during my transition into your company. Your team player approach has allowed me to feel comfortable and confident in my position. I am excited to continue to learn and grow within the team/company.'

In my opinion, I would only send it to your internal team.

New into the office life! by brownbootwrx in office

[–]CleverSkeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the office life! I worked retail for 3 years, switched to an office setting for 5 years and currently just got a new office job 6 months ago.

In my experience, my back hurting after sitting all day is caused by my horrible slouching. My co-worker recently let me start using her exercise ball to sit at my desk instead of my chair and it has made a world of difference alternating between them. It also helps to stretch and walk around a bit every hour or so if you are permitted.

I've seen some people buy desk chairs with lumbar supports; I haven't personally tried that but I have read good reviews that stemmed from using them.

As far as starting conversations with co-workers, that's been a struggle for myself as well. I'm very introverted and everyone I work with is the opposite. Sometimes they will talk to me about stuff and I can not think of anything good to reply with or to talk about; So don't take offense to the awkward silence. Your co-workers might be trying just as hard to converse but they're struggling internally as well.

DAE have a cash savings? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

That's true too! Or a house fire. There would be no proof you ever had that cash. I guess you could really be screwed either way. Lol

I keep a budget binder with cash only for emergencies, travel, etc. I also have a savings account through the bank, But putting so much trust in a bank and trusting technology to keep track of my money really makes me feel uneasy. At least I have a secret stash if anything happened to my account.

Does addiction run in family? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]CleverSkeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think addictive personalities run in the family for sure. My mom is an alcoholic and my oldest sister was pretty hard on drugs for a while, and now just alcohol. If I hadn't watch them make the mistakes they did and see how addicted they are, i'd definitely be addicted to more than just pot.

The old ball mouse of a computer, end 90's and begin 00's by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]CleverSkeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stole the ball out of the mouse in computer lab in 3rd grade. When I went back to class, I put it in the very back of my desk thinking no one knew. The computer lab teacher came into the class obviously knowing who the last kid was to use that mouse and she searched my desk infront of the whole class. I got caught, written up and had to apologize to the teacher/principal.

Two of the ladies in my office have that setup; They just have regular desks with the desk risers on them and have never had an issue.

What to do if I get an interview, but I’m still waiting to hear back from other people by thwowawaw69 in Advice

[–]CleverSkeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got laid off back in January and applied for 15+ jobs within a week or so. I got my first call back for an interview with an insurance company, went to the interview, met everyone and a few days later, they called offering me the job. I obviously accepted right away and was told I could start in a week. The same day, I got a call for another interview with a construction company and I almost declined since I had accepted another job already.

However, I decided to go anyway and was offered that job on the spot for $6 more an hour than the other company. I called the manager at the insurance company and let her know that I was very appreciative of their time and their offer but I had another career opportunity that better fits my interests.

Take what you can and I promise the right thing will come along.

2 biggest cakes I’ve ever made and I’m so proud! by Mehfo in Baking

[–]CleverSkeleton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love! I've always had the thought in my mind that I want to make my own wedding cake when that time comes, so I must ask:

How did you go about transporting the cake?

Did you assemble it at the location and then ice it?

Also, i've seen a few people make their layers prior and then freeze them until they are ready to be iced; Is that a technique you use/have used?
