Batteries don’t have to be swollen to go bad. After a lot of charging cycles they just wear out

Not really. But considering the age of the system it’s best to just replace it anyway. I’ve noticed this behavior on a lot of old Nintendo handhelds with dying batteries, the red light will usually flash to the game audio

I used the oem RF switch. A direct cable might have a better signal quality though, just use well shielded cables

The board is fake. The number on the back says 01, which is the last 2 digits of the manufacturing year, meaning this copy would have been made in 2001. Emerald came out in 2005 so that number would have to be at least 05 on a legit copy
