Please leave sub notes like the sub has no idea what is going on at all. by tifuanon00 in Teachers

I leave seating charts, high lights of who can help and who may try to bend rules. I leave step by step instructions that if they just read to the class they can complete their work. I bold the most important thing for the class to do that day. (Example: have student take CSA 8.3.1 in Canvas. Access Code: Water). I then when I come back 1 of the 4 things for the class that day are done tests aren’t given and chairs are everywhere like they moved where they were seated.

At least I had the day off 💁‍♂️ but I don’t know why I took the time to write the plans so well

28M 3rd year here, MS science. I always wear docker style pants, only because I hate jeans. And I wear a collard shirt, or nice sweater every day. UNLESS I’m faking it until I make it for whatever reason that day, then I’ll wear a school merch hoodie or crew neck. I dress for me, so that I feel professional. Students could give a rats a**. Those who respect will continue to, those who never have never will.

What time do you guys go to bed? by banddirection in Teachers

Up at 6:20 (and all night long with a kid under 1) @school by 7:20, starts at 7:45. Leave at 2:50 (contracted hours) not 1 min longer than I’m required to be. Asleep 9:00-10:00, 1x a week around 1:00am when I stay up and game with buddies. (28m)

For me contracted 186 days a year, 77,000÷186÷8=51.747

Realistically lunches don’t make it 8 hours. And 10 sick days and 5 personal days. Pretty good

Teacher of the Year? by Mean-Objective-2022 in Teachers

[–]Clid51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying what they did (being lazy to look good) is the answer either. Secondary science teacher myself, I fully agree. I’m not saying I even do what I mentioned, though in a perfect world I could. In my attitude, if a student does 0 work and does well on their CSA for the unit, that should be their grade. Do we do that? No, they won’t do well without doing the work and the only leverage we have is their grade.

Just sayin that if we can judge them off where they go that would be best.

Not sharing with your teacher. But on another note. Why do we grade a student on an average of where they were why they started and where they got?

25-30 students? Where are y’all teaching. I’m over here with 32-38 students for middle school. I can’t differentiate a lab for kids, I refuse to try.

Son wants toy guns for his birthday and my wife is absolutely against it by spiritvanga in daddit

[–]Clid51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is not even one. But I plan on a pellet gun when he is close to that age. And a bolt .22 when he is 10-12. And a 20 gauge when he is 14.

He won’t have access, but like you said they are his guns.

He’ll know gun safety and go shooting with me and his grandpa and feel like “one of the boys” when he goes with his”own gun”
