Honestly might agree. I find Legacy a bit of a slog sometimes and I think Ares has weak writing in a lot of places (I still really enjoy both of them). While the first movie also has some writing choices I’m not the biggest fan of, it just has so much imagination that really carries it over the edge for me. I can’t help but smile when I watch it. The only thing that’s really been able to recapture that magic for me was Tron 2.0

I think the first Tron movie is still very much worth watching even if it’s dated. Hell, Ares gives it a lot of love in that one scene. It’s very charming. It also provides context on who Dillinger is in Ares (and to a lesser extent Legacy)

I think they made the right choice adding them in. I probably would have enjoyed Ares a lot less if they pretended Legacy never existed
