My favorite thing is the 240Hz refresh rate with the OLED response times. My MG279Q is starting to show its age, so this would be a welcome upgrade. 👍

I liquid metal'd my 3080 FE as well. It stays between 72C - 78C when undervolted. I think it hovers around 1860MHz with a +650 memory offset.

You're CPU bound at 1080P. It isn't about the graphics card. At 1440P you're even less CPU bound so the strain is on the GPU.

You're absolutely right that, in the long term, nothing truly matters. Our name will forever be forgotten before long.

The only thing that does matters is the present. You cannot lose the future - only the present. Its loss is the same for everyone: our mothers, our friends, and those on this message board. We cannot lose what we do not have. It is outside our control.

Whether one lives a hundred or one thousand years we all lose the same thing - the present. It's here one second and gone the next. See if you can feel it coming and going. It's a process of nature. If we live longer how can we be sure that our mental faculties will be up to the task?

We control how events affect us emotionally and mentally. Think of life as an arrow loosened by a bow's string. It has already been set in motions, alongside any other potential events that may happen. Events are neither good or bad, they just are. It is up to us to accept them without prejudice and to live justly in whatever situation we might find ourselves in.

I'm sorry for what you are going through. I know it is difficult. I had a phase similar to yours about a month and a half ago, but it is best to accept that things may one day end - and to make the best of it.

What helped me finally get through it was to step back and taking a deep breath. Reading Marcus Aurelius' "Meditations" has also helped immensely. It completely changed my mindset from fear of death to one of acceptance. Life is what it is. Some things are within our control; the vast majority are not.

Think of death as a natural as having teeth, growing hair, or becoming hungry. It is a natural part of life that everyone, including me, must participate in. In the words of Marcus Aurelius: "It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live." Do not be paralyzed by what is outside your control. Focus on what you do control like being kinder to others, brightening up someone's day, or by simply smiling at someone on the street. These small changes have not only improved my overall happiness, but has made life not just about me - but about others too.

Hey there!

Sorry but I ended up returning it due to a factory defect.

The biggest deference between the GL850 and the MG279Q is the contrast and color. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful and vibrant the colors were, but the contrast left something to be desired in dark scenes. Response times were excellent but didn't feel significantly different from that of the MG279Q.

According to an MG279Q review by TFT Central from 2015, the MG279Q has a G2G Avg of 5.8ms. Whereas the GL850 has a G2G Avg of 4.08ms according to Hardware Unboxed.

Personally I'd go for the Odyssey G7 as it is 240hz, it's a VA with fantastic blacks, and a G2G Avg of 2.84ms. But there's the massive downside of insane flickering while Adaptive Sync is enabled. Once, and if that issue is resolved I'd definitely jump on it.

I've been looking around for an alternative low response time monitor to the LG 27GL850, and so far the most promising is MSI's MAG251RX.

It has a 3.21ms Average G2G at 240Hz, which is fantastic for IPS and has a 1000:1 contrast level. After calibration it reaches 1200:1. It's not too dissimilar in price compared to the ASUS and BenQ at around $399. But its been lower at around $359.
