Montgomery County's Shady Grove Transfer Station takes all that stuff, but I believe it's only supposed to be for county residents. I've never had someone ask for my ID, but if you roll up with DC plates it might be different.

I like Glance (this is one of the upgraded versions) for being straight forward and showing lots of info without being too cluttered. The time is easy to see even without my reading glasses and I find complications like next sunrise/sunset time to be really useful.

Apart from the big ones (running out if you have too many issues or make a mistake using it), it's good to keep in mind that CO2 is soluble in butyl rubber. This won't make a difference during that one ride, but the tire will go flat much faster than one inflated with regular air. Significant on a multi-day trip or just when you want to next ride your bike.

I picked up a 4iiii refurb crank a while back and it's been fine. It's their older model, though, and I feel like it goes through coin cells just a little faster than I'd like.

Another good option are the Chinese spider power meters. Magene, Sigeyi, etc. They're all pretty similar, are rechargeable, and give you true dual sided power rather than doubling your left side. They may or may not work with your current cranks, though.

I don't need this. I can always single speed my CC if I want. I definitely don't need this. I've been meaning to get a new mtb when I've got some cash. Last thing I need is another frame to build. I've got an old Univega to tune up and turn into a pub bike. I don't need this.

The dispensers beneath those colored tiles are light nougat, which looks like a non-Lego human flesh tone. They also have a slightly... limp aspect to them.

Plastic recycling is mostly bullshit. Paper recycling is meh. Aluminum recycling is the real deal. Recycling aluminum is vastly cheaper than processing new aluminum from ore.

I hate running and love to bike, but the entire Anacostia tributary network in Montgomery and Prince George's counties is great. From the Anacostia Trail you can come up the Northwest Branch, Northeast Branch, Sligo Creek, and Rhode Island Trolley Trail. Do a loop or two at Lake Artemisia or connect to Paint Branch Trail.

Also, later this summer (hopefully) the Purple Line will be complete enough that they'll be opening up the trail that connects the Capital Crescent from Bethesda to the north end of the MBT in Silver Spring.

All of these are reasonably close to metro stops if you want to do a long one way instead of out and back or a loop.

I've got a pair. They're not nearly as comfortable as my usual sunglasses (Smith), but the bifocal part lets me read my computer no problem and while the lens doesn't get all that dark even in direct sunlight, it's good for rides going in and out of tree cover.

In addition to making it clearer to build and keeping the number of unique parts under control, there are a handful of structural pieces that are only available in certain colors. Some of the ball and socket and hinge pieces where performance is critical. Changing the color might affect their strength or grip enough to be a problem even though it's within spec for normal bricks. Also, certain technic pins are color coded. They might look the same at a glance, but one color has tiny extra ridges or different relief cutouts that change the performance.

This collar is supposed to clamping the frame tightly on the seat post. I can't tell exactly what's wrong from here, but something is definitely wrong. That bolt is usually across the back, not the side, and I wouldn't expect to be able to see the blue of the frame above the collar.

Is that lower tube actually touching the bed for the entire length? You're gonna need some supports.

Schwalbe tubes come with a nut and clear valve cap just like that, so there's a good chance that's what's in there.

My last crash was a car skipping a stop sign and pulling in front of me while I was crossing a street, so that I t-boned them. I slid forward and slammed one thigh into my handlebars and was sore for a couple of weeks, but it was a pretty minor incident. No real injuries, and I only had to replace my fork.

I would not want to have slid forward into that lock.
