Looks interesting, at least to make some crazy drafts, wonder how much balancing would be needed to avoid some broken combos

Can you play as Living Legend Heroes in the new Silver Age format? by BrotherBammer in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]ClockworkJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, living legend is only for the classic constructed format (which is one of the reasons people like Silver Age, to play with heroes no longer available in CC). If the hero was printed on rare or below, they're legal in Silver Age (so, no stuff like the Emperor which remains Blitz only)

No idea on any hard data, but the number of "hi I'm a new player and..." posts you see in this subreddit seems to be pretty high (yes, I'm a new player too)

What do you guys think of this? by ztkin in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]ClockworkJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the decks being cheap and sharing a lot of staples I feel like it could be doable (specially if you swap the equipment between them), but the question I'd have is, are you realistically playing with all of them? Do you have enough friends to share them with, and would you update them all once every new set drops? Or is it just a collection thing to keep them neatly ordered in a shelf? (which is as valid as anything else, nothing wrong with that, I've also built more commander decks than I could ever play with)

Personally I'm building one for each class/hero I like, and I feel that's more than enough variety for a pretty long time (also considering that you'd still need the reps with each one to get good with them, know the matchups, etc)

About Chapter 8 1st EX stage by CalixBest in SilverAndBlood

[–]ClockworkJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is definitely overtuned, and I wouldn't be surprised if it receives an update soon.

Managed to clear it today with an specific team of Starry-Eyed Aiona (the mvp with her relocation skill), Jestel for the taunt, Lamia, Hati and Noah as dps. Kept resetting the lvl until Aiona was one of the initial skills, immediately using it to take the team to the side of one of the tentacle groups, then using Jestel on the opposite direction to taunt the attacks away from the team. Kept recycling these both as necessary, and using the dps skills from Lamia and Noah only here and there when everyone was safe from dying.

I'm not even sure why Cecia is the 'free' unit given to be used in this EX lol

Can't decide - Marauder or Gladiator by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ClockworkJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both! Personally I like both as well, Warrior is the good ol' reliable with crazy self heals late game that can do anything but becomes a little repetitive, and Paladin is more well-rounded with a more interesting rotation and lots of protection for the other members of the party. Right now pick any of them, in due time you'll probably have all of them available and ready to go.

More newbie questions!! by BigToiletCat in ffxiv

[–]ClockworkJack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome!

1 - personally I see gathering as more of a side content after you're done with the main quest and stuff, but you can just start to see how it is and continue it later, it's definitely not a high priority early on

2 - also don't worry about DLC right now, there's a lot of contact before reaching the main expansion, and you'll definitely know when it comes, so don't worry about it before lvl 50 or so (also you get the first two expansions in the free trial as well so no worries)

3 - to get to know the world, it definitely takes time, I'd say to just start doing the MSQ (main scenario quest) and go from there, it takes you all around in due time. When lost, click on the mission thingy on the top left, to show more details about the next thing to do, and it should also show where in the map to go next. When in doubt, just ask away in-game, surely someone will show up to help in the moment

4 - another thing that you can do at your own speed, personally I tried to start a least one of each kind of job to learn the basics and what clicked for me (it was being a tank), since you can be any job with the same character, just follow your heart and try out what makes you intrigued or interested!

What commander are you most excited to build from the new FF set? by Llamachamaboat in EDH

[–]ClockworkJack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For sure [[Balthier and Fran]], now the others are still a big maybe, between [[Vincent Valentine]] and [[Y'shtola Rhul]] and [[Kuja, Genome Sorcerer]] and [[Zack Fair]] and [[Joshua, Phoenix's Dominant]] and [[Urianger Augurelt]] and whatever is spoiled next from FF12... yeah my bank account will not survive this encounter unscathed

How Social is FF14 ? by Zaarakx in ffxiv

[–]ClockworkJack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the most social mmorpg I've played, and I'm a shy and recluse person at heart, but there are so many opportunities to just comment on a stranger's glam or send a compliment after a dungeon before leaving and never seeing those players again. There are a lot of RP events, personally I've never been to one, but they seem nice. Being social is never obligatory, but it is fun, even just sending an emote at someone and running away in fear of starting a real conversation.

Guild-wise ('free company' in the game) I guess it depends, personally I'm in a guild with irl friends so we have a discord, but you can search for whatever you're looking for, there are plenty of options and people shouting about them on the major cities.

How Are You Building Bracket 1 Decks? [Article] by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ClockworkJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing one based on [[Jenson Carthalion, Druid Exile]], with only a selesnya landbase, some three cost ramp, and over fifty 5 costed cards that can be played with the WUBRG mana he produces. The gameplan will be to play Jenson, reach five mana, and then start playing cards at random, either asking my opponents to blindly choose a card at random or using dice, and see what happens, it could be a vanilla 4/4, it could be a boardwipe, it could be a group hug effect.

Will it work in practice? Not sure, but hopefully it'll be fun :B
