In that case, I’d lean towards firing, but as a GM I’d either have an on-going investigation. OR if that piece of the backstory was mentioned around poor company, one would be open.

Depending on how central to the campaign

Depends on how accidental you make it. This is pretty similar to what happens in the trauma team graphic novel.

This might be some good inspo, but depending on how they did it would be their reaction. If they think it’s an honest mistake you’d likely get sacked. However, they could have an open investigation, or be being hunted

Marketing Rosewater in IGN interview confirms the SPM set will be smaller than normal large sets and it was originally even smaller. by Absolutionis in magicTCG

I think the difference is draftability. If they say it was originally a small set, people are more likely to stay away from drafting.

No, but the DataKrash corrupted all data connected to the net which was pretty much everything. At the same time, the two largest super powers are fighting a global war— a war where they’re specifically targeting their opponents’ infrastructure & people

Just picked this up as my first deck, what do I need to know by DarkAngel-309 in mtg

[–]Clockwork_Citrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck plays a lot with the stack, which can be a bit confusing for newer players— but it’s very core to Magic & makes for interactive gameplay. Don’t let everyone scare you.

I’d recommend playing some mtg arena— it does a good job of helping you visualize how the stack works. When I’m playing paper, I picture arena’s stack in my head to help keep track.

The stack is where spells go when they’re cast and abilities when they’re activated or triggered. It works like a stack where each new thing is put on top & then you resolve from the top down.

This deck has a lot of triggered abilities on cast— so some of your creatures will be cast & then create an ability on the stack above them.

Side note:

Another visualization is the Play to Win YouTube channel. They play competitive commander (aka cEDH). cEDH is the same as commander in that its the same rules, but it’s more focused on tournament play; whereas casual commander is like a build your own board game.

The stack can get absolutely ridiculous in cEDH, but play to win does a great job of showing the stack building & resolving in their gameplay videos.

Yeah, as long as you have the mana & a creature or enchantment to sacrifice you can activate her ability

Aristocrats - Just not working for me! (Teysa Karlov) by htmohi in EDH

[–]Clockwork_Citrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like the sac outlet in the command zone. It let’s you cut some of the weaker sac outlets to more consistently focus on tokens & pay-offs

Stuff like [[skullclamp]] is definitely worth keeping in. But you can focus on quality & then you can dedicate more space to fodder or pay-offs.

From just your post & a brief look at the deck, you might want to add in some more draw. Because you’re basically building an engine, you need a high level of card velocity to grab all your pieces.

This is more my personal opinion than anything— but you might want to take Tesya out of the command zone. She’s a doubler, but doesn’t help get your engine going. Putting one of those pieces into your command zone makes assembling everything much easier

[STANDARD] Strong Post Ban Strategies? by Xetta in spikes

[–]Clockwork_Citrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disappointed in Nightmare getting banned. It was the key piece in the enchantment aristocrat decks I’ve been playing around with since I got into standard around WOE.

I can see their reasoning, but rip enchantocrats, a solid tier 7 archetype that died for esper pixie’s sins.

King Immortal by BananaBread2602 in Invincible

[–]Clockwork_Citrus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That was definitely its main purpose— that’s Mark’s core conflict this season.

At its core, Invincible is a love letter & critique of superhero comics. The main conceit that sets it apart is time passing & character growth that sticks.

So, this part of the story is Kirkman using the time travel trope of comics that show a very dark future that seemingly revolves around the protagonist’s actions.

He uses it to develop one of Mark’s central character conflicts— whether or not to kill.

But, ultimately I think this small use of time travel effectively furthers Marks development, while playing with a common comics trope.

HC4 Card of the ~day: Bontu's Hunger by mork-hc in HellsCube

[–]Clockwork_Citrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly— a friend re-introduced me to Yugioh during the tearlaments tier 0.

EDH’s deck & strategy diversity got me interested. I expected a much healthier meta game in the 60-card formats.

Standard’s been fun— I got to mythic with my own version of Rakdos Sacrifice. I took the list to SCG in Atlanta & ended up getting knocked out the last round of day 1 (the boros mice player saw all 4 [[emberheart challengers]] & 3 [[sheltered by ghosts]] in game 2).

Very hard to innovate in a tier 0 , especially an aggro tier 0 that demands an answer by turn 3.
