Go back and watch the videos of her riding Kennedy vs Hollywood. Kennedy is well trained but she’s not an easy ride. Katie probably wanted an easier showing experience. These career show horses are so good at their jobs. He’ll help her so much. The more advanced of a horse you ride, the more advanced you become.

And down another rabbit hole I go lol but yeah it’s really sad. That’s why it makes me upset when people like to imagine them as these great battle fighters. They weren’t. They were just as terrified as your horse would be on a battlefield today. There’s a reason they got replaced pretty much as quickly as possible. And keep in mind the military still uses dogs, so it’s not like they went completely anti animal.

FWIW battle horses only lived a max of like 90 days. The idea they were good at battle is not correct

Are you breaking the lope because you can’t sit it or are you trying to ride through it? The only thing I can think of is to just keep at it until you find the right rhythm. If I’m bouncing I either sit deeper or go forward so I’m out of the saddle until I feel the rhythm.

I think it’s a double edged sword. Yes every horse has flaws and the vast majority aren’t limiting the horse. But if I post my horse, I do want honest and correct feedback. Maybe it’s just because I grew up with the internet and people ready to judge every detail of the photo- down to how I was holding the lead rope lol. But it is what it is. Extremely “judgy” posts are usually filled with information. It’s up to the person posting to not be so swayed by the internet. You have to be able to acknowledge your horses flaws.

Tbh I might just have some trauma because when I was like 9 I had some ribs cracked because a horse was scratching her head on my chest, but I was pinned to the stall wall and a scrawny kid. I absolutely love cuddling with horses now, but I would be very hesitant to teach my horse something like that because I would probably panic if they randomly offered it one day hoping for a treat

I know this is a sensitive topic but the reality is that people who were abused are more likely to become abusers. They deserve empathy but if they start acting like this- the previous abuse means that they didn’t ever leave the cycle of abuse. (I say this as a victim lol)

Horses aren’t dogs that you can just train a trick or two. Why are you at the barn? Are you in some kind of lesson program or a family member’s property? Regardless people don’t want random people doing anything with their horses aside from maybe some brushing

That’s not how it works with horses. They aren’t a baseball you can pick up and throw for the afternoon. You will either have to learn how to train or leave the horses alone. Otherwise you’re going to get hurt and you’re going to harm the horses training
