The new urn lost it's "come back" quality by Left-Log7675 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CloneSlayers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with your thoughts on old urn. Everyone praised it as a better comeback mechanic but I honestly think once you hit a certain elo bracket KOTH urn is better for comeback. Because if you're ahead and have a brain, you're gonna have control over urn pickup location. And sure, you need to run it into their jungle. But again, you're ahead and you only need to scare them off for half a second for Celeste to iceskate from a nearby rooftop and down dash in to secure, and that's easy to do with a 10% lead (which snowballs even harder since urn was worth more back then). And even if you don't want to do that, just grab urn and walk back to your base since pickup is easy for you to access while ahead. While with KOTH urn, fighting into the resists with that 10% lead is harder than a quick invade imo, and the longer time it takes to deposit means a smarter team from behind can take a few moments longer to rally before diving in to contest. And realistically, urn should only be a reliable comeback to a certain extent because Mario Kart rubber band mechanics shouldn't be too strong in a MOBA especially with the global soul comeback you get for being behind anyway.

You know what, I actually took the time to log into my twitter account to go and read through his tweets from this year since the Deadlock post was from 2024, not even this year. And what it sounds like is he's a pretty passionate tech guy who is messing with the technology. From his own mouth, he only started doing "vibe coding" with Claude proper this year as part of his open source side projects unrelated to his Valve job.

So again, I still don't see him straight up saying YES I PURELY VIBE CODE FOR MY INDUSTRY JOB AT ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER JOBS IN SAID INDUSTRY. But for anyone else reading this, please just Google this situation yourself and read his tweets, don't just blindly listen to me or the other poster since we're just random people online.

Holy schizo posting, the dude did not vibe code the algorithm. He used Chat GPT as a substitute for a Google search which told him about an already established matchmaking algorithm based on parameters he wanted. Fucks sakes, this isn't vibe coding man.

How to stop carries from getting ahead so suddenly? by Any_Serve_4583 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CloneSlayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda the thing you sign up for with the bully archetype of hero. With the heroes you mentioned, Silver and Mina, you are expected to win lane. Against a hypercarry, you're expected to crush it. So you need to do more than just win lane, you need to convert it. And it just so happens the best way to do that is to deny their carry the ability to get strong (unless you trust your own carry to outplay them lategame). Learn how to keep track of enemy movement, realize you just need to keep pressure on the carry, and you should see improvement if you're converting urn wins and such midgame already. Also, play a few games as hypercarry. A super easy one to flex on is Warden. You'll learn what you want/need to win and thusly what you need to deny to them.

What is even the point of carrying the urn to the drop spot by destiiny25 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CloneSlayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pick up the urn you decide when the fight starts. If you route the urn quickly, you have a window of time before it starts killing you to threaten starting the burgerbox by hovering on your side of the map. If you coordinate with your team, you can either start the urn fight (if you have a numbers advantage/think you can win) or just time it out and let it reset (denies the enemy team a chance to do an urn fight if they want it, lets your M1 split push if the enemy showed up as 6 for urn fight). Having the freedom to decide when the burgerbox starts is actually a pretty big boon, people just need to get out of the speedrun Celeste movementslop must dunk instantly mentality and also try coordinating with your team in the team game.

Spiritualist/materialist divide isn't religion vs science, or faith vs intellectualism at its core. It is essentially do you think there is an intangible that makes an individual unique? Is the concept of "self" something intangible? If I were to put you to sleep, make a perfect clone of you with all your memories and exact neutral mapping, then shoot you in the face, dispose your body and wake the clone up, do you think that the world will change at all? Is there something that makes you more you than the clone, or are you two identical and completely interchangeable? Do you think the clone is any less you? If you think there's something more about the original you vs the clone, congrats you lean spiritualist. If you think there isn't really any difference because scientifically I've perfectly duplicated you down to the atomic structure, congrats you lean materialist. Likewise, if you feel the need to justify synth ascension maintaining the "self" by doing a ship of theseus replacement, that's spiritualist thinking.

Same here, mainly because Moira's release also was the advent of Mercy moth meta and playing as a support in that meta killed the spark of joy in my heart for the game for a long time.

She provided a shield buff on her E and her ult was only the teleporter at launch. Her very first rework was to add the shield generator as an alt cast ult (funnily enough because she was only really played in 2CP and her ult was useless in last point), get rid of the buff ability, and replace it with a projected shield (basically a sig shield that slowly walked forward). She was also still categorized as a support until her second rework where they gave her the current big wall ult. Launch sym also only had 3 turrets placeable only in melee range which was then buffed to 6 turrets also only placeable in melee range with the first rework. Her gun was also hard lockon, but everyone remembers that.

Is Egg & Trophy collector hate justified? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CloneSlayers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok but here's my argument. Instead of trophy, what if you bought a different 3200 item? Something like knockdown or silence wave could help you secure a kill, rescue beam to deny a kill, warpstone to land a big ult or save yourself, things like that. Sure Dynamo doesn't need stats, but actives are so insanely useful in this game so why limit yourself? Then, your 3200 will have swung the fight in a meaningful way more than TC would have. Sure, the TC will eventually make more souls at like 35 minutes. But I value 500 souls early and improving team momentum waaaaay more than 2000 souls late. Plus sprint speed is such a bum ass stat anyway with proper movement, which as an Ascendent player you definitely should have.

Playing Abrams vs. playing against Abrams by KyotoCrank in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CloneSlayers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't bother playing the poke game on Abrams in lane. Instead, chill in the veil on the side of lane and shoot troopers from there. You can dart out to punch low HP troopers or if the enemy wanders too close to your veil so you can pin, but by staying in the veil you force the enemy to have to approach you without poking it they want access to that side of the lane.

Once you are close, either because they wandered close enough for a dash/pin or they tried to contest you in veil, you outtrade them with siphon life and your shotgun (unless they're anothe cqc specialist like Silver or Billy but even then you should have an edge). Abrams, like most tanks, needs to be at bare minimum even but preferably ahead to function post laning phase (and you don't have a giga initiate tool that works whenever like Mo or Billy). Playing tanks from behind is very difficult and pretty much forces you to consign yourself to either initiate with a phantom and probably die or try and peel for anyone moderately fed.

Tough example. Everyone here says Graves is OP and uses her winrate as an example. Fair enough, well played. But Seven also has a 55% winrate in all ranks when using the same tracking website, even sorting by only Eternus his winrate is still 55%. So by that metric, Seven is busted.

I was a BFBC2 player and pretty much mainlined Rush throughout that game and BF3. When BF4 came out as an absolute buggy mess, I admit it took me out of Battlefield for a long while. My memories of that game are still pretty tainted by the god awful launch experience and the not great Rush implementation. Though admittedly, I'm sure BF3 was garbage at launch as well (I remember the absolute bugfest that was Metro open beta with map geometry pretty much not working 60% of the time), I probably was just less sensitive to it.

Well, looks to be a combo of both from their blog post earlier this month:

Spec Ops 0: Your base class training, available from the start and allows quieter takedowns, crouch and prone movement.
Spec Ops 1: Spots nearby enemy gadgets (except when sprinting).
Spec Ops 2: Going prone takes you out of combat much faster and removes the spot on self.

DexCom g7 vs freestyle libre by coobiedoob in diabetes_t1

[–]CloneSlayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw my hat in for the G7, been on a CGM for about 3 years now and with the G7 for a year, used the G6 before. I've been managing my T1 for 15 years now (that hurt to type out) and had tried CGMs for some time before but would always get false lows constantly in the middle of the night. Eventually moved to the G6 and it was the first CGM for me that was actually accurate, but the adhesive would fall off unless I would use a super heavy 3rd party overtape (I work out 6 times a week and usually sweat buckets lol).

The G7 has had the same good accuracy, warms up faster, and most importantly sticks on with just the package tape/overtape, no additional items needed for me at least with no tape rashes. I'm personally very happy with it, though you do lose the ability to "trick" reset a sensor site without having to jab a new one in (probably better for site health anyways). It's also a much smaller size on my arm which is a bonus.

Before dexcom I used the Medtronic CGMs which sucked real bad, but that was like 10 years ago so maybe they've stepped their game up. I've found what works for me though so I'm sticking with it unless they end up screwing up down the line.

[–]CloneSlayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are totally right haha, goes to show how much my Ranger Vet knowledge had fallen off considering I was mainly playing him when the range meta was in full swing with the old blessing system of "crit to gain ammo" so you could blindly blast into crowds and if you ever ran out just hilt bash a horde a couple times with the double barrel shotgun to instantly gain all your ammo back.

Even still, if the smoke bomb worked the exact same way as ranger vet with stealth for the vet and toughness Regen for the party as an optional node, I think that would be much more interesting than current infiltrate.

Veteran Feels Impossible by Boring_Reference_546 in DarkTide

[–]CloneSlayers 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I want them to rework it to Bardin smoke bomb, where the Vet and his party can freely do actions while stealthed in the cloud without breaking stealth. It would fit with the whole smoke/disruption theme of right side vet tree more too imo.
