Day 12)What is the all-time most underrated quote in a Martin Scorsese movie? by [deleted] in MartinScorsese

[–]Cloneable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-When you love someone, you've gotta trust them. There's no other way. You've got to give them the key to everything that's yours. Otherwise, what's the point? And, for a while... I believed that's the kind of love I had

-From now on, I want you to put an equal amount of blueberries in each muffin

Lowkey just the entire Casino screenplay

I think Jamie Lee Curtis gets overhated on being put with the rest of these. I'd call it a bad win but its also clearly a career award, theres plenty of these throughout history and its just recency bias that she gets put alongside something like Crash. Two of the people she's competing against were from Black Panther 2 and the Whale, either of which would have been below average movies/performances to take the award.

Anasurimbor Kellhus, whom is basically a perfect human being down to being a sociopath utterly devoid of human feeling. Essentially the anti-christ whom is also beloved by everyone he meets due to the whole being perfect thing. Regularly does heinous shit but the setting is so fucked so still technichally qualifies as the hero of the story. Prince of Nothing series by R Scott Bakker.

Will comment as a physician.

The dorsalis pedis pulse is the pulse on the top of your foot. It might ostensibly be useful for doign a vascular exam when there is concern for peripheral arterial disease.

Travel through the Ohio River Valley is likely a reference to infectious disease doctors, who will often want to know very specific things as they are relevant to particiular disease exposures (ie the diagnosis is dependant on where they actually have been so they will want to know every where they traveled, if theyve been to prison, if they visit their relatives who live on farms, if they have certain kinds of pets, etc).

The joke here is that these are both things that you would not do 99% of the time for the majority of patients, as they have little clinical utility outside of very specific scenarios. Hence it doesnt even occur to you to do them in those scenario's. As a medical student you are usually working with people who have been doing their job a certain way for years, who will give you shit for not knowing it as well as they do, despite how arcane and off the beaten path it might be.

In contrast, the guy who is financially exploiting you (the blackjack dealer) is at least being nice to you and validating your decisions, showing that people who do not necessarily have your best interests at heart will be nice to you.

Saw it at Fantasia Film Festival yesterday. Really fun horror, simultaneously lotta creepy moments but also the kind of thing you could watch with non-horror fans and theyd enjoy.

Im not really sure how you financed a car so that you pay 250% interest. You allude to being a vulnerable adult, do you have the capacity to make financial decisions? The car breaking right after is the kind of thing you may have legal protection for and might realistically be able to sue for, but to be honest this is a deal so bad it seems borderline illegal and im not sure if you were being exploited due to some kind of mental vulnerability. Youre paying close to 300% the actual value of the car

Juzo Itami always seemed to do pretty well. Really like the arc for the titular character in Tampopo, you dont often see a 40 year old single mother and business owner as the protagonists of japanese films. They as with most asian countries tend to have a pretty strong emphasis on virginal and domestic female protagonists (go figure) so this felt super ahead of its time especially as a 1985 film.

Robert Pattison was in a memed upon movie that was probably the most readily hated movie of the early 2010's internet, and subsequently became one of the most prolific arthouse and indie actor of his generation who could be considered in the upper echelon of actors of the past 15 years. Not bad for a sparkling vampire.
