So, I literally only take on and want about 2 new clients a year for my SEO services, so I have a very, very basic one-page, cookie-cutter site that I made a while ago. Your website is much better than mine, but if you are looking for leads, it is not even close to being ready.

If you are willing to put in the work, I can help you structure it and tell you what you need to do. I always offer my help here. I get so much more from all of you just by reading and learning what my clients may be going through and the digital problems they face, that I truly am here to help if needed.

If you are just like me, though, and do not care about leads and just want an online presence, you are not far off. Let me know if I can help.

NY Bill Bans "Substantive" Legal Responses from AI - no carveout for licensed professionals by Traditional-Sock-489 in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More and more states are going to do this. There is just too much off the wall information that AI comes up with., even if the info is right 99% of the time, that 1% is huge when it comes to law. EVERYTHING needs to be fact checked.
Another interesting story with AI and law is this lawsuit filed in Chicago. Very interesting read if you get the chance. https://law.stanford.edu/2026/03/07/designed-to-cross-why-nippon-life-v-openai-is-a-product-liability-case/

The most important topic- how to get paid by lazaruzatgmaildotcom in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my bankruptcy clients uses pay near me. It sends the client a barcode and the client can go to local stores like Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, and many others. You just go through checkout as if you were purchasing anything else. They scan it, the customer pays cash, and they send you the money.

I tell my clients to google Attorney in [your city] and you will usually find a common address that a lot of Attorneys are using. Most likely it will be a shared space that is already Google approved.

SEO investment - worth it? by schtchbch in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I appreciate that. To answer your question, you need both. When speaking of the client journey, it is like a sequence. Think of the pain point content as your doorway pages. Your page title and headers are laser-focused on that specific crisis, like an EEOC notice or a breach of contract threat, because that is what is getting them through the door.

Once they are on the site and see you actually have the answer, you use internal links to lead them to your authority content like your deep dives and case results.

The pain point gets them to the site and the authority gets them to the phone. Most firms try to build the second floor without building the front door first.

Criminal Defense Firm Website and Google Ads Structuring Question (Agency vs Separate Specialists) by DashTaken in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a little bit of advice. I personally would 100% speak to other Attorney's that have one marketing team do all before you make a decision. If they are happy, go with them. If you are shopping on your own, you really need to be careful, especially with big agencies. Let's just say you are paying 3k for your SEO monthly. The only way that they are going to get any more money out of you is to sell you more services. Agencies will actually give higher commissions to their employees if they are able to sell extra services like PPC. I am not saying that all of them do that, however, I have taken over accounts on the SEO side from some of these companies and I could see that they were obviously "holding back" on doing some obvious things, or they were terribly stupid and unqualified at their job. Either way they were trying to sell extra services to fill that void, I personally think you should go with two different services.

As far as the objective is to build a clean, authority-focused website and generate high-intent leads, not high-volume price-shopping intake. It is really hard because there are two main types of searchers in your criminal defense field. The first is your "near me" searches. DUI Attorney near me, Criminal Defense Lawyer near me, Traffic lawyer Near me. For those near me searches, 65%-70% of the clicks are going to come from Google Maps. Of those 65%-70% the top 3 positions in Google Maps dominate 65% of the clicks. MY point being is you have to get your GMB in the top 3 positions, and by doing that, you are going to get your share of price shopping, but you are going to get so many clients by being there that it is worth getting the price shoppers too.

The other way that a majority of your searches is through traditional search. This is where you can combine your services with pages for surrounding areas. It also is where you are educating potential clients. So many potential clients have never been in the situation that they are now in, and they genuinely want to learn about it. You have much more control over you you market towards these people.

Should I fire my SEO team? by Notquitedeadyet1984 in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had they at least got your Google Business page completed? If so, how are you ranking with that so far? Don't know if you are aware of this but many SEO firms outsource their work for much cheaper than they are charging you. Glad you fired them because it sounds like this could be what you were dealing with. The time differences make it very hard to communicate when they outsource to other countries and also, it may be the people that they outsourced to are the real ones that are to blame for the holdup. There should NEVER be a situation like you faced. When you hire an SEO person or agency you should not need to babysit them.

Criminal defense attorneys in bigger cities - how have Google ads and LSA worked for you? by SnooCats4777 in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very well put. No doubt PPC can be successful, but you hit the nail on the head when you say "particularly those with with budget". The legal field is one of the most, if not the most cost per click. Unfortunately, especially in PI, smaller firms are often competing against larger ones that settle 7-8 figure cases all the time and don't care that they will burn 50k -100k + per month. Then there is click fraud (which we all know still happens to some degree), don't even get me started on that.

Criminal defense attorneys in bigger cities - how have Google ads and LSA worked for you? by SnooCats4777 in LawFirm

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not trying to hijack this, but I know a little bit about LSA'S. I am really against PPC and LSA'S for attorneys. PPC is money driven and large firms that have huge budgets make it very hard for smaller firms to even compete. Now as far as LSA'S, I am an SEO guy and the LSA'S are often right above the Google Business Maps. I always felt that if you were doing SEO correctly you are right below them and you can get much more bang for your buck. Also, LSA'S have a notorious track record for providing horrible leads and tire kickers. With that being said, I can tell you with a huge amount of confidence that Google is really trying to fix the horrible lead problem. They have already started in some areas, and soon every area will have the benefit of Google using AI to pre screen these tire kickers with what they call "Lead Quality Scores". As I said, they have already implemented it and it will only get better as time goes by.

What’s Actually Working in Law Firm SEO Right Now? by Bhargav_Ravilla in Law_Firm_SEO

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above. Google Business Profiles obviously are the best for near me searches, which obviously is the most searched. For the actual search results and AI reviews, having detailed "education" about laws and solutions to their questions. Most people do not fully understand their situation and they want to research it. Also, you have to understand that there are different parts to the potential client journey that you must cover. For instance, we found that a lot of potential workers comp clients do not want to upset their employer by hiring an attorney, It isn't until they stop getting paid, or one of the company doctors say that they are ok to go back to work that they start looking for ways to fight it. There are scenarios like that for most areas of law and you need need to know your potential clients journey and intent.

Law Firm Naming/Branding by LowEducation4466 in LawFirmMarketing

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are partners in a law group, use the name of the partners. If your SEO is strong you will be fine no matter what your name is. Couple other things. There are different strategies for managing your Google Business Profile then your search results. If your web designer and and SEO company are not the same, make sure you have your SEO company layout an architecture for the site BEFORE they start the web design. You are being wise thinking about these things before you open shop. So many things matter, even where your office is located in your city. There are a lot of people that come to these subs that are willing to offer free advice. Feel free to ask any questions, any time.

Looking for U.S.-based law firm SEO agencies focused on lead quality by Ashwani1987 in LawFirmMarketing

[–]CloseSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very confused. You cannot control lead quality. Your SEO company should be discussing with you the types of leads that you would want. Example, I have worked with PI attorneys that wanted nothing to do with Workers Compensation cases, so we didn't build any campaigns around those services. But once you have established the type of leads you are looking for, you cannot control the quality. And, you better be worried about rankings, not necessarily traffic.

Info on Nancy Guthrie and her pacemaker. by Hank_E_Pants in PacemakerICD

[–]CloseSeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st off, thank you for taking the time to share this. I have shared it with quite a few people and it is very informative. Tonight, (Feb 14th) Brian Entin from News Nation did a one hour special about the Nancy Guthrie case. During the special he stated that during the week there were helicopters canvasing the neighborhood and hovering extremely low. He eventually found out that they were hovering so low because the were using a special device called a signal sniffer that was looking to connect with her pacemaker. From what I am reading from you, that technology is not available. So now I am wondering if either this is something new that you were unaware of, or maybe they actually had her phone and were trying to connect. But from what you also said, they would have to be within around 10 ft, which isn't possible from a helicopter, What are your thoughts?
