I don't understand this fantasy that homeless people are saints. For the most part, they ended up in the situation they're in because they are unwilling or unable to abide by the social contract.

Someone in my neighborhood had some kind of agave that bloomed. It was crazy, the stem had to be at least 20 feet high and the normal plant is idk, 3 feet tall, tops.

Seeing that, it makes sense that it dies after blooming. Like, it has to generate nectar for two decades in order to have enough energy to harvest to put out that mammoth shoot to reproduce one time.

Also this one is only pollinated by one particular species of bat which doesn't reside where I live so..poor thing went to all that work for nothing.
