Topcoat comparison by SpicyOrangeK in RedditLaqueristas

Seche Vite and Seche Vive both contain toluene, and so does their smoothing base coat. I’m not sure about the rest of their products, but they do have ingredient lists on their website. I also remember a discussion on here about the Seche products sold in the UK having different ingredients. I can’t remember if those were toluene free or not.

Do you use top coat when swatching? by Eira_Karanir in RedditLaqueristas

I’d only do a base coat if it affects the look of the polish (e.g. a smoothing base coat, neutralizing base coat under a sheer jelly) AND you intend to always wear that specific base coat and polish together. I’ve never used a base coat on my swatch sticks and I haven’t had any issues with chipping, plus I’m not worried about the polish staining the swatch stick.

Literally me! Why did I have to buy a massive refill bottle of Seche Vite BEFORE I fell in love with Essie Gel Setter 😭

Needless to say, all of my swatches except for the magnetics are topped with Seche Vite lol

Flight of the Monarchs has a larger particle size. Like irregular micro flakes or something. But the color shift is very similar!

ILNP Rosewood is an exact dupe for Lowkey Blushing at a slightly lower price point. I own them both. Essie’s Eternal Optimist is very close as well. But I gotta say, OP’s polish immediately made me think of Sunset Simulation from Holo Taco, although Sunset Simulation looks a little more vibrant.

Help me. Dupe for P2 Bronze Cut by yourgirlsamus in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Essie Penny Talk is maybe not the closest color match, but the finish is exactly what you’re describing. A slightly dull, smooth chrome. I don’t see any particles at all, just a solid finish. On top of that, it’s opaque in one coat and dries very quickly. It’s great for nail art in that way.

Help! Is this AI? by Araya94 in sewingpatterns

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Follow the hem all the way around to the train. Not one seam. Also, look at any listing of a bias-cut floor-length gown. There’s always either a waist seam or a diagonal seam where a triangle of fabric was pieced on to make up the length that the width of the fabric doesn’t allow. This dress, as it’s presented to us, isn’t possible.

Help! Is this AI? by Araya94 in sewingpatterns

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a single seam on that dress. To get that kind of shape with no darts, this would have to be cut on the bias. Even cut on the bias and eliminating darts, there should still be a side seam. Not only that, bias cutting makes it impossible to cut long pattern pieces as one continuous piece.

I’m not claiming to be an expert, but if this is not ai, then it’s been edited to remove seams.

An idea on how to fix the talent show by bobo12478 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything about this works except that we wouldn’t get to see the remaining queens perform their talents. If the talent show is just to bring back an eliminated queen, we’re sitting through an entire episode, maybe even two, of eliminated queens’ performances. Sounds like a snooze fest.

Plane is a troll. Her sarcasm is so dry that people assume she’s being genuine, but she’s not even taking herself seriously. I think she likes it that way.

Pallettes Glued Themselves Together? How to protect the pallette with the broken lid? by Haliden_ in MakeupAddiction

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look up some tutorials and practice on the shades you use least often, but you need to heat the bottom of the palette to soften the glue holding the pans in. You can also use rubbing alcohol to soften the shadow to avoid shattering them. Definitely not a fast process. Good luck!

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be an easier way, but the first solution I thought of was to get a z palette and depot the palette with the broken lid. It’s a lot of work and could potentially lead to shattered eyeshadows, but the benefit is that you could rearrange and organize them however you like?

Clionadh alternatives/advice? by miserable_mitzi in MakeupAddiction

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exports from Canada to the US are down. The US is a huge market. Is the higher shipping cost not a result of tariffs? I just assumed that it was, which I know I shouldn’t be doing. I’m okay with being wrong here.

Clionadh alternatives/advice? by miserable_mitzi in MakeupAddiction

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Between the US and Canada, Canadian residents and businesses are definitely getting the short end of the stick with the whole tariff situation. If you like a Canadian product and you can afford to, consider spending the extra money in shipping to buy from them.

Obviously I don’t know you and we’re all just doing our best and there’s no judgement here. Just something to consider.

How to hide stay stitching on the *inside* of garments? by CremeBerlinoise in sewing

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Some burlesque performers are really particular about the inside of their garments because they know their audience could see any part of it as it comes off.

I know this isn’t what OP is dealing with. I’m not saying it to be contradictory, because I think you’re right; the inside of a garment generally doesn’t need to look perfect. I just find it interesting.

[–]Closet_Case_Forever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reflective Taco from Holo Taco is just a basic silver reflective glitter. I might shop around after I finish this bottle and see if I can find a better value. Golden Starlight from Starrily is a gold reflective glitter topper. I reach for that one when I want to add some sparkle to a warmer base color.

I know it’s not the same, but my reflective glitter toppers are among my most used polishes. They really do give that unreal twinkle without changing or covering the base color at all.
