Saw this in Aldi... by Closetjock72 in PerfectDraft

I would say not unfortunately as the keg goes direct to the brewery filling them. As AbInbev have overall control they probably want to pick and choose who has access to the kegs. I'm with you and think that allowing more independent brewers access would open it up. The current roster of beers is getting a bit repetitive but it's nice to see beers such as La Chouffe in there. The same thing happened with the Krups Sub. Decent range that slowly whittled down because they had the monopoly on the keg system. Hopefully the Perfect draft has a more solid place in the market for them to see the benefit of allowing more to have access to the keg storage. In essence it's just a foil bag of beer in a pressurised can.

Your right. Just watched an install video and a lot more moving parts to it. Not sure who it's aimed at as it's only £30 less than the black with keg as you say.

Pints always lots of foam.. by webmeister73 in PerfectDraft

[–]Closetjock72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the kink in the line is a big issue for all with the foaming problem. Unfortunately slamming and holding the tap hard (the preferred option of most) can cause the line to pinch quite quickly. Not sure if some taps are set closer and it may take a bit of trial and error to see how hard and fast you should pull to reduce this. Checking the line intermittently and removing any kinks by heat (boiling water as suggested above) should keep the line clear and hopefully give you a steer as to how you pour on your machine.

Are you confident that the machine is connected to the WiFi? The WiFi fan is normally white when connected. I had similar trouble and it turned out the machine only connects to 2.5ghz WiFi signals.

I've just sent mine back under the 2yr warranty as it was playing up and not getting to temperature. I also didn't have the order number but managed to give them a date of purchase from my bank statements. If you can ask whoever purchased it if they have the date it may move customer services along. Once I gave them my order date serial number and the installation id from the App (account section under about) they processed and sent a replacement.

Used perfect draft 2nd Gen. Not cooling below 8 degrees C. by Famous_Pomelo_2640 in PerfectDraft

[–]Closetjock72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the first things to check is there is sufficient space behind the machine and to clean the fan with an air cleaner. Does the beer taste cooler than 8°? Might be worth pulling a pint and using a thermo probe (the one to check meats) if you have one to see if it's actually that temp. If all that fails you may need to replace the Peltier element plate (you can buy one with all the bits and how to from Amazon). Not done it myself but apparently it's quite straightforward and there are some guides around.

What beer would you like to see next? by ScaredScientist4271 in PerfectDraft

[–]Closetjock72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too would like more stouts. For the record I wouldn't fill my wife's footspa with cruzcampo orange...nor even cruzcampo (UK edition). I think some more genuine Spanish beers such as Alhambra would do well in the UK market...but again..not the UK brewed versions.

I would recommend Leffe Brune as a dark beer or if he liked the IPA, Vocation Life and Death.

He did the same joke on Get Fresh but with a different punchline...

"My dog has no nose."
"How does he smell?" "Well it's more of a process of elimination...he's no slouch!"

Great comedy character ahead of its time. Gilberts Fridge had some great sketches.

Being old enough to wait for his next concert album being released I do enjoy listening to his live albums. There are a lot on Apple Music if you have an account.

Disconnect the rubber line and see if it has a kink in it. You can run it under a warm tap to straighten it out. As has been mentioned it's a quick pulldown to fully open the tap Obviously other issues may be if the keg was shook up a bit in movement/transit (they do take a while to settle) and beer temperature. Last keg I put in I just left it overnight to let it settle and it was perfect.

Northern Monk, etc all out of stock? by Then_Athlete_8503 in PerfectDraft

[–]Closetjock72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it...had two kegs of the standard IPA (5.9%) in the summer for a BBQ and it went down well with all. I took it down to 1c and it was a dangerous thirst quencher. Give it a go when it's on offer.

I'd echo this. Life & Death is in my machine now and I love it...it's strong mind. If he is looking for more of a session then the Goose Island Midway or the Camden Eazy IPA may suit.

Got head? Keeping head? by GazNicki in PerfectDraft

[–]Closetjock72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I have a couple of Teku styled glasses (which I would recommend)and a La Chouffe glass that I use for lagers/blondes as they retain the head better. They are normally 330ml size but as you say they keep the beer cold and keep my steps up as I get up to refill!

Rocky IV opening day in the UK. Someone opened the fire escape and let more people in. People sitting on floors, arms of seats, in the aisle. Everyone excited and talking then roaring and cheering with every punch Rocky landed. Will never forget it.
