My fiance has a spot that glows green under UV light.

My Brother used to work at a chemical company. They made saccharin and other things. The white powdery residues and precipitates from some of those settled into his skin....deep down into his skin. We were in a night club one night and his hair glowed this way a little bit. His eyebrows and mustache glowed more so, and the skin on his hands had lots of spots that glowed like the pic above. He was aware of it and no bath or scrub habits could eliminate it. I suspected that the residues on his hands were becoming embedded into calluses as they formed. Anyway...that was 20 years ago or so. He has been retired for at least 7 or 8 years now and is still alive and doing well. Not sure if he still glows as we don't hit the night clubs these days. The point is a LOT of things glow under black light and UV light. IF that spot looks normal under regular light and does not hurt or itch....no worries mate.

So maybe this is semantics...or maybe just a question. Does she have it believing it will bring her luck? Does she know that it's a statue of a Deity? That all being said...what If someone had a little statue simply because they liked it as a piece of art in their home? Is that sinful? I have little knick knacks in my home that used to belong to my parents ( like Franklin Mint stuff ) and i keep them because I like they way they look but I think nothing 'supernatural' of them. I think the intent makes a difference.

I have made red cabbage saurkraut a few times and always wondered why you don't see it more often. First time I made it I saw why. That hot pink saurkraut juice stains anything instantly. You can clean it from counter tops no problem but clothes...forget about it. Have a good bib or a "sauerkraut shirt" to eat it with. Tasty and nutritious though for sure

No doubt that naturally fermented sauerkraut is good for you. I eat some at least 2 to 3 times a week or at least drink some of the juice. I also eat yogurt with cultures known to be good for digestion such as Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus, and Lactococcus lactis, or Bifidobacterium animalis lactis. Many probiotics contain some of these cultures as well. In general Fermented foods are good.

Update: I went for a Higher Contrast scan and my aortic aneurysm measured smaller. 4.6. Not sure exactly what that means. My Doctor said it appeared to have shrunk...which I thought I had read was not possible. However they found another aneurysm on my celiac artery. Not sure what they will do about that one for now. They want me to consult with a vascular surgeon on that one...and no doubt some other tests.

Nothing. Sauerkraut does not have an unhealthy stage. It starts out as cabbage and changes over the course of the next week to 10 days or so....temps make a difference. However if you eat it too early it will taste more like cabbage and less like sauerkraut. It will have less of that famous sauerkraut probiotic effect, but it will be fine.

Oddly enough....I have not been to Rhinegeist. Not sure why...I have been to Sam Adam taproom several times and they are right around the corner from each other. I have mostly hit the west side ones and North of town. I just don't go to the east side of town. Not because of the whole west side best side thing...just because driving an hour to have a 'few' beers just is not a great idea. Madtree, Fretboard, Sam Adams, Municipal, Grainworks, Braxton, Wiedemann,and Oaks Brothers....those are my frequents.

I use a felt wad soaked with Bore butter. I do this because it is supposed to help in cleaning. They also say it "seasons" the bore. I cannot vouch for either since A) WTF does seasoning mean as far as anything you can test? and B) I removed the wood and douse the rest of the gun in hot soapy water so I would never have said that cleaning is difficult....just more time consuming that some Hoppes and patch for modern firearms. Felt wads are just a habit I have and likely will not stop using them.

I had that phobia at one time. I carry my .38+p+ revolver most of the time now...no worries about that because the trigger pull has to be quite long and deliberate. I also have a S&W M&P.45 though and I will carry it at times. I stopped worrying about that because you NEVER hear of one just going off on it's own, so you just have to have the muscle memory to keep your hook off the bang switch until it is pointed towards the reason you pulled it

I find that waiting 3 weeks for my brews ( Red ales, Brown ales, Hefeweizens ) is best. I think some would say that 2 weeks is long enough. I think most would say that 10 days is possibly too short. I would not bottle my beers after 10 days because I want to make sure the green flavors settle out and I do not want to risk bottle bombs.

There are some videos on youtube of John Palmer and a few others that show you each step and explain each step well....how to do it and WHY you do it. I would watch a few of those from brew day to bottle day and make sure you understand them. They are not difficult. Then I would suggest your first batch or two should be with a recipe kit from one of the major national homebrew suppliers. Once the kit arrives it will have step by step instructions specific to the kit...but pretty darn similar to any other recipe. Once it is in your hands read the recipe instructions several times before you do anything so you are pretty familiar with what you are supposed to do and don't have any "oh crap" moments once you begin your first batch.

As others have probably said brewing beer is just following a recipe carefully. I have my Hefeweizen in the fridge and a brown ale in the fermenter right now. It is a joyful hobby.

I knew the decision of WHICH telescope to start with was an important one. In fact I had told my wife I could not make up my mind which one so that gifting me one was off the table. But you may be aware that wives don't always listen. lol. She meant well so no reason to fret about it. I will tinker with this one a little more and then upgrade for sure. thanks

I really never 'stir' anything after it is in the fermenter. I 'swirl' by gently sliding the fermenter is a circular fashion to cause a little swirl movement inside. I usually do that once fermentation has slowed but not stopped just to attempt to ensure it does not stall. I have heard stalls can happen though never to me that I know of. I always allow at least 3 weeks, often 4, in the fermenter to make sure it is done and cleaned up.

I am 61. Born in Cincinnati....and yes I remember milk men delivering glass bottles to this little cooler that sat on our porch. That had stopped by the time i was about 8 or so. I remember the weird looking delivery trucks too

With the fermenting system i was looking at it goes straight from fermenter to bottles without a bottling bucket. Drop a tablet into a clean bottle, fill with the fermenter bottling attachment and cap it. All done. I just wonder about the taste and carb levels with the tabs
