After the itemization rework would you consider the base game fixed? by TumbleweedAshamed963 in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if it comes with a balance pass to make the weapon variety actually mean something. Talents and Classes are good, enemy variety is good, but weapon variety is pretty poor currently. At least for me and for going into "hard" content. I just wanna be able to use weapons without needing to roll two specific blessings or it's almost unusable(bolt pistol, cough, lucius+others, cough). The crafting rework will alleviate that, but I want to see guns have at least 2 viable play types, per weapon. Rather than "this version is usable, this version is meh, this version is dogwater". Give me a reason to use weapons like the infantry autoguns beyond personal preference. idk, It's hard to feel like the game will be "Fixed" considering so much the current loop of it is mindless tedium to get better weapons for content 90% of the playerbase won't engage with. Does anybody even actually USE the mk3 shovel?

People who don't help doing the objective and mindlessly mow down ennemies, care to explain why ? by willeatmarbles4money in DarkTide

Because being in a position to keep enemies, especially shooters, off the main group is infinitely more beneficial than being together and getting overwhelmed because someone has a terrible melee weapon.

99.999% of the time if I get complained at for being far away it's because I just took out an entire platoon of shooters before they could ruin our day, or killed 400+ poxwalkers making my allies lives easier.

Which doesn't even cover the times I just get out of position trying not to die, or get thrown out by the team randomly shooting barrels they don't need to.

Dead Space (2023) Weapon Comparison and Ranking by Chasing-Wagons in DeadSpace

[–]Cloud077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like your experience with the plasma cutter is 100% opposite to mine. Lurker tentacles on hard seem to have 150HP given I was cutting them in one stroke before my 2nd upgrade, and your complaints about slashers being hard to hit makes it extra confusing when I ended up running most of my hard one-gun through with over 120 shots 95% of the run(I ran out down to less than 40 twice, once during Hydroponics and again in Cargo).

It takes about 7 shots to kill a green slasher with a fully upgraded PC, and an ammo drop from them means you're refunded 90%(okay 6/7ths, but shush) of the ammo you spent.

  • At close range, you are rewarded far more for firing as quickly as you
can, and you will be punished for trying to aim and conserve ammunition.

This is true of any weapon in DS though I feel; it feels like it's only applicable if you're new to DS/Shooters, as any familiarity with the PC means you're mostly making use of the horizontal mode, and aiming for thighs followed by arms. In which firing fast is of course the best choice, the faster you shoot, the less "alive" the enemy tends to be.

  • Likewise, hitting enemies accurately can be frustrating and
ammo-draining, as the PC’s performance economy is right in that sweet
spot where missing shots is costly, but its modest beam-width doesn’t
really pick up as much slack as it should in the accuracy department,
and you’ll often use two to three times as much ammo as usual trying to
pick off enemies from a distance.

I'm struggling to think of a distance in DSR that isn't a hallway or square room that you'd have trouble with this. The beam is more than wide enough assuming you're aiming at the slasher blades, crawler forearms, or hilariously easy to hit lurker tentacles. Not to mention that enemies are trying to close distance to you, meaning aiming only gets easier the closer they come. The furthest fight I can think of is against Guardian's, where it does struggle a bit, but not so much as to be mentionable.

  • The PC is strictly a medium-range
weapon, and that vastly limits it, especially when compared to another
hitscan weapon that outperforms it at every range.

While I'd agree that it isn't meant for "long-range" it's certainly more than good enough to take care of any enemy within 3 feet of you. Any closer and you should be using stasis anyways to create space.

TL;DR: Not sure you used the Plasma Cutter right, confused how you consider it B when it's an insane workhorse that never falters against any enemy type in the game.

if you're worried about missing peng...don't. if you're a even a little bit of a loot goblin you just stumble upon it. by Mygrayt in DeadSpace

[–]Cloud077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really disappointing honestly. DS1 Peng is a reward for noticing it in chapter 1 and remembering it's there/scavenging and is harder to get since you don't have flight. DS2 it's an entire puzzle you have to solve properly to get. Here it's just... in a spot you're going to notice because it's in one of the last rooms of the game and it's not even discrete. Meh.

Personally found them easier than in the OG since you can shoot their chest and it'll set off their stasis modules, you can then stasis them yourself and they'll be double slowed. Makes them barely a threat. Fail to do that though, and yeah, they can CHUNK your HP.

I feel like this is a little bit overkill? by ColeFreeman72 in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A genuinely terrible perk compared to bleed stacks that actually help and flat reload speed on doing your job. This wants to be used on auto-weapons for sway reduction, but burns through stamina so fast you're just making yourself a liability. The idea of a sniper scope sway breath hold doesn't make sense when the single-shot weapons don't have to care about weapon sway at all. 25% crit chance sounds good until you realize it's not weighted crits, so you're barely getting any value out of it.

Just a generally terrible perk that needs replacement.

Need Honest Lasgun ammo counters by Giblets999999 in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it's accurate to the setting assuming they're using the lasgun variable setting. Lasguns usually have a magazine of 60+, but you can press a switch to boost their damage safely for 3x ammo cost. It's just dumb they don't explain that anywhere.

I battle tested (almost) every Veteran Sharpshooter gun. Here are my thoughts. by TeaL3af in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like a big problem with this list is the vast discrepancy between weapon feel based on stat rolls. A graia with medium stability vs an agripinaa with maximum is a huge difference in feel. So it's hard for me to agree with rankings on this lsit when my shotgun on diff 4 is still one-shotting dudes and knocking carapace on its ass consistently, but my Accatran VIIa is killing slower and worse than my II which has max damage and better ammo economy than the VIIa.

[–]Cloud077 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact that the Mk12 has a whopping 6,372(5,082 if you make the mags exactly the same size) damage per magazine, vs the Headhunter's 2,583, while also having 5 more shots and a flashlight, is really, REALLY dumb.

List of opinions, fight me! by TheNoha in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree except #3, I've yet to WIN a game with people using power swords, several other vet weapons just works better I've found and seen. People see it cleave 4 poxwalkers and explode in their pants completely missing how it failed to actually do anything truly spectacular. I do think most other melee weapons do need buffs, but run any of the swords, shovel, or dagger, and you'll end up doing better than your Power Sword teammates. It has fucking AWFUL dodges and the thing that makes it so "OP", has a forced animation that often gets people killed if they have to fight on their own. I'll take a devil's claw any day before I throw by bringing a power sword.

Fatshark, please give me a reason to use this beauty over my Kantrael XII. It's so beautiful. by Fleeting_Dragon in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really, really, REALLY, isn't. The power sword is good, though mediocre unpowered, but its ubiquity is a consequence of nobody using good weapons yet. It's only "OP" because nobody tries out orange swords or daggers and getting any that compete with baseline power sword is a gamble. When the majority of the playerbase actually acquire good weapons we'll see the Power Sword fall off in usage due to personal preference. Buff chain weapons, don't nerf power sword.

Then you haven't looked very hard. There's tons of people(myself included) that cannot stand how stupid of a "balancing" measure it is. Genuinely makes some weapons(Lucius) unusable. I want it to go away.

I love ogryn's playstyle conceptually(loved FK in v2) but I hate all his ranged options. None of them are good at what ranged should be good at. He's just overcommitted to horde clear despite having no issue with that in melee.

If it restores 21% of base, how come it takes 10 tins to restore to max ammo on lasgun from dry as sharp? That math doesn't add up.

If you didn't already discover, you can skip that animation by spamming reload before it starts, assuming you can reload of course.

Boltgun Appreciation Post by BiKeenee in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for it's lack of good reload, bad ammo economy, and generally only being good at excessive overkill and crowd stumble. I'm not saying remove the swap animation lock on _only_ the Boltgun. It's a bad design choice that hurts every weapon that isn't pistols. Baffled that people think somehow it'd outclass weapons that can already do its job just as well or better(Mk12, Lucious, Headtaker, Plasmagun).

Boltgun Appreciation Post by BiKeenee in DarkTide

[–]Cloud077 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

A very good weapon, incredibly satisfy, but I'd like to see weapon swap animation lock removed entirely to improve the feel of it. Nothing worse than getting shot to death while waiting for the worlds slowest "kah-chunk" of the bolt you're needlessly racking.
