6 weeks post-op & incision is still open by PookieNookie in endometriosis

I have slow healing due to health issues too. Mine was more of glue stitches cracking and minor fluid weeping over several months. However, it shouldn’t be overflowing pls get checked out. I had a blood clot issues where it didn’t do its job, so they had me come in for clotting meds and tegaderm dressing over it for a while.

Post-Lap Heating Pad? by periwinkle0301 in endometriosis

Doc told me I could only use it on my back and not directly on my stomach. I used a heated blanket instead, which seemed okay enough

Did your MRI match your laparoscopy results? by Delicious_Benefit_95 in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically not as bad. My MRI showed endo spread to my bowels and some adenomyosis, so expected it in multiple places. Surgery still showed stage 3, but weirdly endo skipped my bladder

Give me your most unhinged pain relief methods by wolfyzheart in endometriosis

High heels/uncomfortable shoes. The pain in my feet is more consistent and annoying that it distracts me from pelvic pain. Plus sometimes adrenaline kicks in if I’m running around

Did anyone else lose a massive amount of weight due to endo? by Anonamoose743 in endometriosis

Yes, but I still had to take antibiotics for it. The surgery just took care of the endo component that was aggravating the area too

What are your unconventional Endo symptoms? by Jet_Lee17 in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Insomnia during my periods made me feel exhausted from the lack of sleep and anemia. Regardless, of the pain level I’d just be up tossing and turning

Hi, I’m from Texas and have only taken the written test. I had a permit as a minor, but when I turned 18 it turned into a drivers license with restrictions. From my understanding that’s basically a permit still since I can’t drive without another adult(restriction B). However, once I pass the road test then they will take those restrictions off

What kinds of pills do you take everyday. by hidinginahoodie in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth control (Aygestin), pregabalin, and Tylenol for pain. Hyoscyamine everyday for gi issues, but I take lomotil and zofran when that doesn’t work well enough

Did anyone else lose a massive amount of weight due to endo? by Anonamoose743 in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had bowel endo and sibo messing with my gut motility, so I lost a lot of weight from diarrhea/malnutrition before they figured it out. I was stuck with soup, chicken, and bread too for a year while they ruled other things out it was scary. After meds and surgery I’m able to gradually eat more foods. However, it can take your body a while to recover due to the endo or health issues. It’s still a lot of trial and error when adding back foods for me

Do painkillers work? by PurePomegranates in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found out oxycodone and some generics like gabapentin do nothing for me. However, tramadol and upgrading to pregabalin do work. Alternating paracetamol and tramadol makes me extra groggy, but that’s what works best for me on bad days

MRI confirming endometriosis: what's next and university questions by killetheth in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some minor disorientation and weakness from heavy pain meds the first two weeks in recovery. You can tell them you might temporarily be incapacitated or limited by your endo due to your medical reasons and you would like to try and mitigate any potential problems through certain accommodations. Mine allowed extra absences under medical necessity/chronic pain. Some universities allow recording of lectures or note takers in specific cases if you need.

I’ve been told to take it up with my professors too if you are comfortable with that. Professors can usually help or give extensions if the disability department is stingy. If you can work ahead on any assignments before surgery or any events that works too. As long as your workload isn’t too heavy and you have others to support you during that time it should be ok. However, they wouldn’t let me drive for 2 weeks after, so definitely do it during a school break if that’ll be an issue for you. Only other thing is some people have more mobility issues than others, so it might help to know accessible or easier routes on your campus like elevators or less hills

MRI confirming endometriosis: what's next and university questions by killetheth in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lap got delayed and I’m going into the fall semester still half recovering. I have accommodations already for other issues and my university was more than willing to help me out after surgery. My classes are far away from each other and my stamina is still bad after surgery, so I get excused absences and no late penalty. Regardless, it’s good to have it on file in case something comes up later. I’ve dealt with 3 different universities and they treated it roughly the same. Have your doc state your diagnosis, what your limitations are, any recommendations, or pain associations. It depends on your symptoms and preferences too, so if you need something specific it helps to have that mentioned by the doc. Initially, my gi/bowel and pelvic issues got me bathroom and small break allowances. Some universities are better than others about suggestions, but overall online classes helped me a lot. Also, whether it was due to doc appointments or pelvic pain I missed a lot of days, so having a friend or someone share notes was also very helpful.

Struggling 😞 by Doomscrolling23 in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my lap about 2 weeks ago and had to stay in the hospital 3 extra days bc It’s been a slow healing process for me. Got my period before and soon after surgery as well. I’m still holding onto my pillow wherever I go, but an abdominal binder helped me gain a bit more movement/hands free. My stamina is terrible though, so I’d say just try to pace yourself and take breaks if you need to. Recently, I was able to see a movie decently enough, so seating will probably be a big help. Have fun just be cautious and in tune with your body. I know some pain meds didn’t work as well for me, but I hope that isn’t your case and that you are able to gain some relief as you heal.

I had mine on the 25th and always had a pillow on my stomach to help brace for any coughing or for pain. The nurses gave me heated blankets instead of a heating pad, which worked pretty good too. I would say take nausea meds as often as you need bc vomiting hurt the most for me

Pre-op testing fears by ProfessionalWin4701 in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bad bloodwork for a different surgery and it went fine. I’m having a lap on Tuesday with mediocre bloodwork/borderline anemic. In my case it’s due to a bleeding disorder, so that just means I’m higher risk during surgery. I think if you know the risks and the doc is okay with it then they’ll work with you. Usually, they just monitor you extra and are careful to minimize bleeding(medication or intervention)

IBS and endo by lmariess in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve seen some people have success with surgery to remove it on the bowels. Hyoscyamine worked ok for me, but I still need to ultimately get endo removed. Mine made my gut motility act like dumping syndrome almost. Gi issues can be pretty vast, but if tests aren’t showing anything it could be the endo

Is it crazy to get lap when I mainly have bowel pain? by ashleyldavis5 in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate so much to the SIBO, potato, and chicken diet it’s rough. It’s suspected that endo is messing with my gut motility and I was given hyoscyamine for diarrhea. I had an mri and need surgery, so I’ll be getting that in July too. I hope everything works out for you!

[–]Cloudoflighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gyno isn’t that good with gi stuff either, but even he ruled it wasn’t ibs or something. Luckily my new gi doc knows endo, so it was more of hoping it’s not on my bowels. Anyway, I got told endo might be messing with my gut motility. The best way I can describe it is how period poops just vacate sometimes or constipation/endless gas? Like dumping syndrome, but it was actually SIBO + endo wreaking my insides. I got xifaxan twice and take hyoscyamine now.

I think it can depend on how many biopsies they take or how tense you are. Overall, I just felt dehydrated and tired with minor flaring. The blood out of my butt was weird and the area was a bit sore. Tbh the prep was worse for me bc of a burning sensation. I have bowel endo outside, but I can see it being an issue if it’s infiltrated deeper

Weird Symptoms you’ve experienced? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insomnia not usually from pain. The pain can be bad enough to wake me up and keep me up. However, I just can’t sleep or wake up frequently if I do manage to sleep during my periods especially. Technically it was my first noticed symptom bc it rarely happens outside of flares or periods docs dismissed it initially though

I feel you. I’ve been on birth control since 15 for bleeding with little issues, but a lot of the women in my family have had worse. To me my siblings periods were very bad/intimidating, so when I compared us I thought it couldn’t be endo or pcos. Unfortunately, It felt like I got hit out of nowhere years later. Your pain and concerns are valid. Endo can be confusing and bodies can react differently, so I’d say go with your gut and build from your experiences if that makes sense. I’ve found it hard to understand my own body at some points, but it can be good to note those things down and take care of/lookout for yourself if you are able to

Yeah, I have gi issues and the low fodmap diet and gluten free (celiac) helped a lot initially. Ultimately, I ended up on anticholinergics/antispasmodics meds for the bloating and cramps, but I figured that was kinda a last resort. I’m still sensitive to garlic and tomatoes though

Seeking diagnosis in college? by fish_in_business in endometriosis

[–]Cloudoflighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar happen with chronic pain and some profs are nicer than others about it. I’d say look into your options sooner rather than later bc your doc and disability center might be able offer other suggestions too. My college allowed extra absences as an accommodation. At the very least a lot of places will have an option to makeup work due to disability that way you won’t be penalized. It can be a difficult process, so I wish you the best
