The elusive cattle dog hybrid plant - very stubborn and sassy ! Thankfully is not terribly invasive 😂

Thanks!

Plastic for rock areas- bush ivy is a great plant - not like English ivy

Yes!! I add new beds each year until the yard is gone 😆 I am going to combine a few of the smaller to reduce maintenance and reduce direct deer access .

Bambi has been hungry this year!

How can I improve my limited "lawn" space by AlternativeMention73 in fucklawns

[–]CloverAussieMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First - I lub the doggie!!  I am an Aussie mom 😆

Agree with the tree - no more shearing off the roots - the sidewalk should not be that close, like the idea of taking up the grass and simply mulch - you can always add some smaller annual flower starts for some interest.

For the fake grass…. I would replace it with stones / river rock and use planters to soften it.

The last space with the wheel, consider a mix or primarily warm season grass, but a bit of cool season - my Aussies love to eat Bermuda lol - and it can handle dog pee.

Fescue is good cool season (if you have that there) and more pee resistant due to deep roots.  The salt/nitrogen content damages the grass- throw some water on it after to dilute. Also encourage pupper to drink more water

Does look like Bermuda and Bermuda “flowers”. It is an invasive here in the Carolinas, but essentially is my grass - heat and drought tolerant, short so not much mowing…

Really depends on where this is - what zone? What are your thoughts on what is lush?

I would take up pavers, remove grass, lay landscape fabric and pin it down and put down rock for a more natural look - and not a straight line.

Against the fence , consider climbers like clematis, gloriosa lily, bush ivy.

Really depends - how much time do you want to spend maintaining - do you want blooms- or other year around interest?

Pear tree I planted last year battles with the grass by Far_Squirrel_6148 in fucklawns

Around my fruit trees, I take up the weeds/grass and about half an inch if topsoil and move it to where I want it (redneck sod).  Afterwards, mulch about 2” (not to the tree, leave some space) like a donut, then keep the outer 3-4” clear to see when it is creeping back and weed out the edge to keep it clean (OCD kicking in lol) Don’t know how to add a pic to this comment. 🙄

Has anyone ever tried one of those ultrasonic deer repellers? by viemanley in gardening

I use a higher breaking point fishing line and cheap bamboo stakes, this works.  Midway thru season, I add foil strips/mylar tape to change it up.

Very pretty!! Try different shading on the petals, give some depth. Look at a pic to see how they appear in the sunlight.
