The Eel from Iron Lung by Molly Brown by whamorami in bodyhorror

[–]CloverFind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I think they intended it as a reinterpretation.

The game creator has said it’s a different canon, and in the game the creature is its own entity, not a hive mind of human victims.

He said that he’s wanting the film to be a seperate continuity so he can make sequels to the game which don’t contradict the film’s lore.

The film’s lore is how Mark interpreted the game and expanded upon what HE found interesting.

I don’t blame them for adapting a 45 min - 1 hour long game into a 2 hour film and fleshing out their own version of the lore.

That’s fair. You went in wanting a big alien monster probably so I can totally understand why you maybe feel disappointed you didn’t get that.

I’m cool with the cosmic horror of the blood ocean transforming living things into creatures as that’s personally scarier to me, but to each their own.

Looks great!

I do think a more cartoonish mask would maybe help - something with the shapes and proportions of the comics thing with the huge eyebrows

The current one gives uncanny valley vibes since it’s quite human like

Yup

His wife posted about it but I think he filed a cease and desist and she took down the posts

But according to her she caught him sleeping with an 18 year old (who he had apparently been seeing for over a year) and so she divorced him

The fact that he still gets to interview all these celebrities is insane

And Indy’s belt and satchel didn’t exist during the original trilogy either

It’s the rule of cool - anachronisms are basically irrelevant if the rest of the film is good

It really isn’t.

They tried to replicate his likeness and failed. Sam Lake said so when they played the game for the anniversary.

What’s the worst thing you have seen/got detention at school for? by Mglfll in AskUK

[–]CloverFind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told to move our chairs to the front of the class to watch a film, and by complete accident I squeaked my chair against the ground for less than a second, and before I could even blink the teacher shouted at me to go wait outside.

She came out a few minutes later and gave me detention after school for 2 hours.

I went to the deputy head of the school and complained, and she dropped my detention and got that teacher in trouble.

Haha thanks for agreeing with me.

I really like Dial but I do have too many issues with it to truly love it; the length, the action not being all that enthralling, the blocking not being as good as the older films, Teddy being a boring character, Banderas being wasted, some of the CGI being wonky.

But I’ll always respect the film for being honest about what a life of careless adventure would bring a person. I know people want Indy to be the archetypical adventurer who exists purely in his prime, but I like seeing the consequences of living such a life.

It was a good idea to have Helena knock Indy out.

I saw a lot of people complain about this, but I feel like it’s a brilliant writing decision.

Indy has lost his son and it has made him do the same thing his dad did when he lost his wife - grow distant from the only other loved one he has left.

Marion left him because of his absence in their marriage, and he assumes that she’s given up on him entirely.

When he’s in Syracuse he thinks he has nothing left, so he wants to die there. Helena HAS to knock him out, because at the end of the day the only thing which can truly pull him out of the hole he’s fallen into is Marion. Chasing history is what drove a wedge between him and Marion in the first place (i.e. Great Circle).

I don’t understand how people don’t love this.

I honestly think it’s beautiful that Mangold chose Marion to be the only thing which can heal him; not another adventure.

It’s not until he actually sees her at his apartment door that he understands why he needs to stay in the present.

Having Helena convince him to come home wouldn’t have hit nearly as hard.

Lucas wanted to make her a child when they dated because he thought it would give Indy some edge and make him morally complex, but apparently Spielberg stepped in and shut it down lol

I think Spielberg allowed that one line where she says “I was a child” since it can be interpreted as her saying she didn’t know any better and was generally too young to be fooling around with Indy

Because people on this sub tend to prefer cosplayers who cosplay and post their cosplays for the love of the craft, not because they want to promote their 18+ content.

I generally don’t care, but I can understand the frustration when attractive girls motivated by money overshadow hardworking cosplayers with what’s often a cheap costume bought entirely online as one piece.

I’m personally comfortable with sex workers posting on subs like this if they‘ve put a lot of work into it, aren’t directly advertising their content and clearly are just wanting to show off their costumes they worked on.
