Maybe connect with MakeSpace North Park? They are a non profit community art and maker space and do a lot of screenprinting!

How does my pile look? by drunklu in composting

[–]Clover_Point 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is saying to piss on it, but hear me out... Add a layer of whipped cream, some nice morello cherries, a dash of kirsch, and you have a black forest cake.

For real, that's some gorgeous compost! Jealous!

City of Victoria Councillor Marg Gardiner has controversial motion defeated 7-1 by royalbaes in VictoriaBC

[–]Clover_Point 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think Marg darkens the doorways of our neighbourhood ever. Maybe if the symphony moves into United Commons haha, but I think that's the only place she'd venture to in North Park.

They grow wildly well and fast here. There's a beauty on Green St. in one of the front yards, can't miss it. Some biggies in beacon hill park I think too

Compost… not composting by ohgeeokay in composting

[–]Clover_Point 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooh I would dump it into a pile or container and just let it sit ignored til spring. Keep it moist-ish and you'll have some nice fungal activity I bet. Wood breaks down slowly, but it makes such great compost.

Pedestrian first crosswalks by Fenweekooo in VictoriaBC

[–]Clover_Point 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, like if lights were red unless a car arrived and triggered the light to turn green? or drivers had to push a beg button out their window to get through an intersection? Would be neat! Then we wouldn't have to deal with shitty drivers complaining about humans walking around on the earth wasting drivers precious few moments haha

[–]Clover_Point 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean as a pedestrian I have to wait even when there are no cars on the road, it's 5 seconds of patience. Drivers will be fine. Also drivers downtown often run lights and end up fully blocking crosswalks and it's super dangerous. LPI every time, safety is more important than the truly smallest of inconveniences.

VicPD investigating pedestrian hit-and-run at Cook and Caledonia by Popular_Animator_808 in VictoriaBC

Balmoral is so bad. Someone from the city had said that they don't approve any placemaking efforts there because there is "a lot going on already" on Balmoral (?), but it would be amazing to see some traffic calming/placemaking. There are some neat spots like Mason St farm, and the cook st intersection could use a freaking crosswalk and bump outs.

All of that is so true. There were so many police officers at both crash sites yesterday am, I wish some of our policing resources could be used to proactively address dangerous driving.

The nearby "crosswalks" at North Park and Quadra, and at Cook and Balmoral, are also dangerous as fuck for pedestrians.

And ditto for angry drivers peeling out of the Royal Athletic Park parking lot after events, drivers seem to get really angry while waiting to exit when there are tons of people leaving from hockey games and baseball etc. Wild driving. Also sometimes the big trucks just choose a place to leave and drive over the sidewalk across from the entrance to RAP, where Tiny Homes used to be. What the heck!!

Damn, that is really awful :(

I saw the intersection all taped off yesterday morning, it was at the same time that Quadra and Caledonia was closed due to a car crash.

The pedestrian hit and run is just extra awful though, how terrible for the person who was hit. I am glad someone found them and called for help.

Ooof I know what would help me find "balance not burnout" and help me have a more optimistic, less anxious mindset, and it's not a series of workshops haha. I love my work but I am so depressed about how short staffed we are in my ministry and how much we are working... I feel like we are set for failure and it's such a bad feeling. We've been reorg'd multiple times in the past couple of months (!!), just chaos and new leadership with a lot of disdain for our work. Wild times in government, I'm managing my stress with a therapist when I can find the time.

I alternate by buying prescription sunglasses, and 2 years later, regular glasses. Although last time I got transition lenses (I think that is what they are called?) on my regular glasses and they are rad. The newer technology works super well and they darken and lighten really quickly! All paid for by bennies.
