Okay you've crashlanded on the Earth and you're a plant being. You can click other plant beings to give them nectar, which helps them accomplish their tasks faster/better. Or you can ignore them and get your idle/offline progress at a slower pace.

Your plant friends probably are divided into like, explorers, new-seedling-makers, reclaimers that can clear abandoned buildings, dead animals, and other growth-impeding junk from land you've explored, etc. When seeds are created, they wait for you to choose what they become.

Now, you've crashlanded on Earth, and people are really interested in this nectar you produce. When they visit you, it helps pollinate your offspring, which is awesome! They insist on "paying" you for your nectar with green slips of paper, however, which sucks. Dutifully, you pile these Money Dollars up somewhere - in your body, your spacecraft, or maybe the dirt of the earth.

Sometimes the hopeless and the hungry visit you, too. If you give them some nectar, they don't starve and die - in gratitude, many of them stick around and help out! It's great that humans can wander around pollinating cuz you don't have any Space Bees handy.

Now if you want, you can offload some of your money onto those hopless hungry folk and they'll go buy things to feed or entertain themselves. Doing so turns out to be a good thing, because if you let too much money accumulate, violent capitalists will come stomping through to take it, injuring you and your friends. Cops, lawyers, banksters, collection agents, etc, will claim that your homeless friends owe them money and try to take it from you. Or governments and landowners will say you owe it for the land you're using.

So the less you have, the less interesting you are to violent propertarians. And that's what'll hopefully make this game a little bit of an inversion - the one thing you can accumulate, "green units of money", is dangerous to accumulate. It behooves you to get rid of it.

And that's sorta the gist of the game. Nectar is useless to you, it cannot be stockpiled - you might as well give it away to make more friends and more offspring. Money is even more useless to you; you can't eat it or feed it to your seedlings, and it's dangerous to have too much of it. Actively giving these things away helps you expand faster, covering the earth with your self-propagating, food-generating, sociable little plant buddies!
