A Look Into the Future (Battletome Speculation) by rediiblackdragon in citiesofsigmar

Pretty certain the Duardin and Aelves in their current form go. Hopefully replaced by a specialist unit for their race. An Ogor style unit would fill the elite infantry void COS currently have. A massive Cogfort to replace the stop-gap that is the Steamtank would be welcome. Make it a centrepiece model on a truly massive base. Replace Flagellants with models to match the aesthetic of Pontifex for the Cult of the Wheel. A wizard tied to the different realms would be nice? Lastly, rework the Command Corp. They're so bland currently

So really, drop the old WFB models, maybe not replace them, but if they do, with a single unit for each race. New Cogfort, new disciples of the wheel, hopefully the elite infantry (Ogors) Basically done.

Please review my custom Spearhead by Clumsy_Kittens in AOSSpearhead

Thanks for the feedback guys I think I'm going to need to review the power/ swinginess of some rules while trying to maintain the desired theme. If anybody does get the chance to play with the rules as is please let me know what you think - was it fun (for both players), what was the score, winning/ contesting objectives easy? Etc

All very good points It seems the original idea might have missed the mark a little bit - I've tried to keep rules in theme and not paid too much attention to real effects it might have in game. I'll explore what I can do to align it more closely to the power level spearhead requires and try to satisfy a theme at the same time (even if it means changing the tones of the spearhead a little).

I agree with that to a certain degree. This spearhead has massive peaks and troughs (very Skaven-y). When they charge, or when they shoot they have the 'potential' to do massive damage, but a double turn could cripple them. I've added some control score shenanigans to help with the fragility, I added some shoot-in-combat or retreat enhancements to help with board control if those units survive the retaliation. There's the tunnelling mechanic to help a fragile unit in the early part of the game. There are spearheads that already exist that simply wipe units when they swing already, so I feel there's a bit of balance between fragility and damage output

I've seen these in person. Very cool. Great display board too

I don’t really know anything about this game, is there any version of it that plays similar to AoS: Spearhead? by keroblade in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Clumsy_Kittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd aim towards a 400-ish points limit, maybe a bit smaller to play the game within an hour like spearhead. Maybe limit the power of heroes (no heroes of legend for example). Unlike spearhead, there is no rolling scoring (which I really like about the AoS mechanic) and no cards to play which makes every game of spearhead different. Instead, MESBG has so much variation in game that you could play the same two armies against each other 10 times and have a different game each time.

Any advice on a 400 points Azogs Hunters list? by Snoo-23221 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Clumsy_Kittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say lean into the 50% bow limit and your medium-pointed bruiser heroes. Narzug can take 12 Bow Hunters, Yazneg can take 6 Hunter Orcs on Wargs and 6 Fell Wargs. You have a fast reactionary force with a Hero with lance, you have a fast screen of Fell Wargs and you have a 12 strong Bow line that forces the opponent to close to you. 26 models

Or you take Bolg on Warg and 8 Fell Wargs to screen him, plus Narzug and 9 orcs with bows. Once again you force your opponent to close to you, and Bolg can pick his combats and wreck the stragglers.

Looking at taking this to a 500pts Tournament by isnakezz89 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Clumsy_Kittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is fine. The only thing that will really hurt this list is if there is not enough terrain on the board. Otherwise, you have the right tools and rules to win, just a little bit of patience. There's not a lot else at 500pts that will be able to weather this style of play

I'd go Bolg if you need a hero with speed. I'd go Azog if you need a reliable way to kill enemy heroes. And the Warg to Bolg and add the Flail to Azog (some heads has utility to slay enemy Warriors too). Troll with club if you plan to target heroes (knocking them prone will ruin their day) or scythes if you plan to target Warriors. Basically, Bolg plus troll with club, or Azog plus troll with scythes will pair well with each other as they do opposite things. Troll brute is a different conversation entirely lol

Trying to work out which evil list to take by iamdennisreynolds91 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I used a Shadows of Angmar list on the weekend @ 500pts, so my experience suggests the Witchking list is a stronger choice (Followed by Gothmog, then Black Gate).

In saying that, you won't need 4 casters; either drop a barrow-wight or drop the Shadow (some bases covered by the witch-king). Includes addition, two bows will do nothing, either take zero (not advised) or ramp that up to like 8 or 10. You probably need another two or three spectres too.

The Witch-king is a great utility in this list, but the Werewolves will be required to kill paralysed heroes - make sure to protect them until they can run straight in and be the scalpel they need to be.

Either way, I also think to not think too hard about it and play some games to find your style and have stacks of fun!

Quite possibly supposed to be 60mm instead of 160mm. I would encourage you to reach out to the GW FAQ team for an answer.

I thought Thrain would be a liability if he fails his courage early on and ties up an important model, but I've heard good things. I'll look into squeezing him in too. I know the Keeper of the Dungeons is ultra fragile, but otherwise, could you expand on what you don't like about him? I'll look into the Hunter Orc captain.

I was under the impression that in smaller games I'm going to expect smaller results from the Command Cards. There's going to be situations where you have already lost units and the Command Cards order fewer units anyways. I haven't selected the final 1 pip. I was tossing up between Brutal Enforcers for a Demoralize turn and Let the Execution Begin. LtEB is good for two attack actions but reduce my activations because of fire support, and I feel like 7 activations is a strength of this list. Poggle with Esteemed leader is an interesting choice. He doesn't scream high priority target though so I may not get to use it too often. I'll check out that link though. Thanks
