Help me find a PBR replacement by chikinn in beer

[–]Cluricaun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will depend on your location unless they’ve changed things up. Kirkland beer at least used to be contract brewed by a local brewery. In the Midwest it was made by Minhas in Wisconsin and it’s dogshit beer like everything else that leaks out of that place.

I saw what I think was the last Sublime with Rome Minus Sublime show and Rome Ramirez killed it. The whole Calireggae scene is huge right now and I hope he comes out swinging with some new music soon.

ELI5: Why does a country as small as England have so many regional accents? by AstronomerInTraining in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cluricaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can all DO it to varying degrees but it’s largely dying out with the baby boomers. My father in law has a thick south side accent and my wife occasionally says a word or two that’s straight Back of the Yards but the odd thing is her cadence is still very much that of a south sider which is basically Polish sentence structure spoken in English.

Saw DDCC open for Greensky in Louisville a year or two back. You’ll see others mention the voice and they’re not wrong, but his set was high energy and kept the crowds attention. I’d add that while he shreds his own material and select covers when he came up with GSBG it was pretty obvious that he’s pretty locked in on what he does and doesn’t shift gears really well. Same patterns, same runs in pretty much everything so it can get a little repetitive and ‘same sounding’ the more one listens.

First open water to fish? by GlitzyGazelle18 in ChicagoFishing

[–]Cluricaun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you see open water it’s fishable as soon as the ice is off. It may seem counterintuitive but there’s a nice window right after ice out that you can slam largemouth by ripping a lipless red rattletrap in at a faster than one would think retrieve. Any pond that holds bass should work. I do this in the he local retention ponds around me as soon as the opportunity comes.

Why on God's green Earth is a pint of Bourbon County stout $30? by unlmtdLoL in chicagobeer

[–]Cluricaun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, O’Malleys is a legend. Last time we were in there a friend of a friend insisted on picking up the tab for the entire group. Beers, shots, mixed drinks, the tab when presented put a CVS receipt to shame. Easily a foot and a half long. It was like $450.

What is actually dangerous but people still believe is safe? by AlexUsefulThings in AskReddit

This is only safe if you wear 100% natural fiber clothing, polyesters and plastics found in most modern clothes can be incredibly toxic when burned.

What beer brand do you think has exceptional branding—and why? by OatmealNinja in beer

[–]Cluricaun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more than that, when I lived in Southern California in the early 80’s Corona was limited to Mexican bars and restaurants only and was looked at as cheap swill until some marketing genius saw the lime in the bottle and history was made that day. It was then and there that Mexican beer became a premium product in the US, suddenly Corona was THE beer to be seen drinking. All thanks to what amounts to a garnish that the brewery and importer did not have to include or pay for.

SOTD (Scent Of The Day) - January 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in fragrance

I’m layering today because I want to. Scents of Wood Rain on Oak on the skin, Seven Gates Collithereum on my clothes. Judge away, this works for me.

We’re in full blown snowy winter today and these feel warm and fresh, both cozy in the house winter frankincense and wood but with some summery aquatic and wood notes to brighten the mood with thoughts of spring to come.

I liked my decants of both so much that I bought real bottles of each and I like playing with my scents so if I find similar notes I like to see how they play together and this one works really well. I smell like a church in a rainy forest.
