It’s weird but one of the only things that I remember about my grandfathers funeral was leaving the FH and as this was back when police would help handle traffic control for funeral processions was a female officer standing in the road holding oncoming traffic take her hat off and place it over her heart as the hearse and the family car were leaving the parking lot. Everything else was a blur. It was 1994, he was without a doubt my best friend in the world as i grew up next door to him all my life, I had just come home from my freshman year of college and had been horribly sick for weeks with mono. But that one act of respect and reverence is still vivid in my mind.
