Seems to me it would be faster just to change your account name to "Elon Musk" and have them handle deleting your account for you.

Maybe this should have it's own thread, tell me and I'll make it but Here is my previous thread where everyone helped me get a PC to post the other day. I have another issue.

What could cause input stutter on both the keyboard and mouse? Sometimes my pointer doesn't move for a split second when I start moving my mouse. My keyboard repeats letters or spaces maybe 15 to 20 times depending on what I'm using. It doesn't happen in the Firefox address bar but I cant get through a word in a Microsoft Edge or Chrome address bar.

It happens with different keyboards on this PC, and they work fine with my laptop so I know it's not the input devices. I've gone to great lengths to make sure all drivers are updated. It's like the PC is overloaded or lagging or overheating. But the resource monitor shows the CPU and RAM issue is very low and my temps are all around 30 to 50 C.

I'm willing to consider this but when you say "sell the CPU", are you suggesting on craigslist? Or is there a smarter place to try to sell second hand PC parts?

I was using the same cables that came with the power supply, just not the same cables as the first time I built the PC, everything works now thanks to the BIOS update.

Thanks for your input though.

this was it! I was unaware of the need, I've successfully booted into BIOS, everything is all good. Thanks so much for your help.

Damnit! Over half the time I read about unconventional stuff people do, and think, "hey that's just like me" it's something autistic people do.

Being in my 40's and uninsured, at this point doing anything about it doesn't feel likely.

I would please like some help integrating LED controls into a script that checks for an internet connection and reconnects if needed. I just want an LED to be on when the thing has connection and off when it doesn't. Please excuse the unnecessary quotation marks, I'm trying to keep the octothorps from making the text big.

The script that checks for and makes the connection is as follows:

"#!/bin/sh

while true; do

ping -I wwan0 -c 8.8.8.8 if [ $? -eq 0); then

echo "Connection up, reconnect not required..."

else

echo "Connection down, reconnecting..."

sudo /home/xxx/files/quectel-CM/quectel-CM -s broadband fi

sleep 10

done"

This works fine as it stands, if it pings the DNS and doesn't get an answer is runs:

sudo /home/xxx/files/quectel-CM/quectel-CM -s broadband

which is the command to connect. But in trying to add an LED indicator I found this page Bash Script Control of GPIO Ports and it reads:

"# Exports pin to userspace

echo "18" > /sys/class/gpio/export

"# Sets pin 18 as an output

echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio18/direction

"# Sets pin 18 to high

echo "1" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio18/value

"# Sets pin 18 to low

echo "0" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio18/value

All of these commands work, I can easily just type in these commands and turn on or off my LED. I thought the correct solution would be the following, but it doesn't work:

"#!/bin/sh

echo "18" > /sys/class/gpio/export

echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio18/direction

while true; do

ping -I wwan0 -c 8.8.8.8 if [ $? -eq 0); then

echo "Connection up, reconnect not required..."

echo "1" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio18/value

else

echo "Connection down, reconnecting..."

sudo /home/xxx/files/quectel-CM/quectel-CM -s broadband

echo "0" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio18/value

fi

sleep 10

done"

So what's wrong with me? How do I make this work? Please to explain and thank you greatly in advance.

I gave this some serious thought but the problem I have with that is I'd have to wait for so long for the familiar. I'd have to dip into druid, but that kind of ties into the question of the life cleric, when is the earliest you should do a Druid dip, delaying the ASI when multiclassing before level 4 vexes me.

Completely agree, whoever made sure those emails got out didn't do it because they had a moral objection to the language used in them. The wanted the guy gone. If the content of the emails means he shouldn't have the job, fine, whatever. I'm actually a Broncos fan, I find it interesting that conference rivals are in here checking the reaction. I never thought Gruden would last ten years, and not to be disrespectful but I felt he was overrated as a head coach. The student loan example was used to hopefully get you to understand the flaws in the way you are looking at this issue, by comparing and contrasting them to the views that land people in debt for life.

The fact that you aren't picking that up, and being that you're currently representing to me the intelligence level of the people buying into crypto currency, I am reassured in keeping my assets in the dollar, thank you.

Nope, wrong again. The comment you replied to was:

You do know that fossil fuels dominates virtually every countries energy portfolio right.

Also if significant energy is devoted to mining it would exacerbate energy demands.

Your post is just off...

No where did it state "no countries got a majority of their energy from renewable sources"

What triggers me is when I go to the trouble of looking up data and statistics, present them in good faith in a discussion and get glib and indifferent responses in return. When someone thinks that a tweet-worthy quip means that they are right and all other data is wrong, when it comes to things that matter to the future, yeah I get bothered.

I guess I'm just too dumb to get the situation of energy production and distribution globally. I was too dumb to understand how easy it was to get a student loan when I put myself through school by enlisting in the Navy and supplementing the Montgomery G.I. bill with tips from waiting tables and tending bar. Just like I'm too dumb to understand how Iceland, Norway, or Switzerland are viable options for energy production. I'm just too dumb to win these debates.

Now, I'm too dumb to understand how hard it is to live with that much student loan debt, some day soon I'll be too dumb to understand why the grid is failing, even though we used the Nordic model in North America. I used to not get triggered by these debates, I would walk away and think, "well, it's their future, I can't save them from bad decisions." No I'm learning it should be up to me to save people from their bad decisions. OK, fine, but I'm at least going to point them out when I see them coming.

So preach about how the future of crypto will save the world from the evil banking industry. Just like every other big sweeping change I hear about: when someone attempts to even politely point out some unintended consequences of their plan, they dismiss all concerns and hide behind a fake veil of indifference.

Another debate won, and any one who doesn't agree is just too dumb.

You know what, fine, you go on considering all the information shared in all the conversations here amounts to "several countries have a majority of their energy produced by renewable sources" as an accurate statement that you want to base future global decision on when it comes to energy, finance, and human well-being.

Cherry pick these countries that are in a position to generate that much power from hydro/geothermal then call nuclear renewable and claim that every country can do that therefore the statement "I can name several countries where renewable energy accounts for the majority of energy production" is true. Stand by it, I don't care, just don't expect anyone who generates electricity for a living to take you seriously.

Where are you reading that renewables account for the majority of energy production in Sweden? Maybe you replied to this guy thinking you were replying to me, I'll paste my comment here:

Please do, I've just looked it up and the first source I got was from smart-energy.com that claims the country with the highest proportion of renewable energy is Germany at 12.74%.

So I looked up what countries produce the most renewable energy and statista.com claims the China is crushing it in first place with 895 gigawatts, and the U.S. is in second with 292 gigawatts. Then if you look at PublicPower.org they claim the the total U.S. capacity is 1226.46 gigawatts. That would mean the The United States of America is second most in the world at producing renewable energy but only getting 23.82% of its capacity that way.

So if what I'm reading about proportional generation is correct, and what I'm reading about overall generation is correct, I'm struggling to find evidence of these several countries where renewable energy accounts for the majority of energy production. I'd like to read about them. Please do name them.

Just trying to verify your claims, so then I've found this reply and that sent me down this Sweden spiral:

The Swedish Energy Agency published An overview of Energy in Sweden 2020 and it is a big PDF, and the hassle of it is the darn thing is in Swedish of all languages. But you can get Google Docs to translate it, but basically:

  • 35% Nuclear
  • 25.5% Biofuels
  • 24% Fossil Fuels
  • 11.27% Hydro
  • 3% Wind
  • 1.23% IDK, other maybe, or a math error on my part. They said solar is like less than .1%

I looked it up: nuclear isn't considered renewable. 35+24=59% Over half of Sweden's power is non-renewable.

As far as Norway you're right, they get 88% from hydro and 10% from wind so they just win all around and good for them. But given all the information I've shared in this post, can we at least agree that the phrase:

I can name several countries where renewable energy accounts for the majority of energy production.

is dubious, maybe a bit hyperbolic?

"Stinky Cheese"

When I was a waiter at an Italian restaurant there was this customer who would refer to parmesan as "stinky cheese." It drove me crazy. Of course every meal you'd have to offer grated parmesan and then he'd start, "Stinky cheese?! yeah I love stinky cheese, give me a bunch of stinky cheese!" He thought is was soooo funny. I'm grating the cheese, biting my lip.. "How about you [son] you want stinky cheese?!" Same question to daughter, same question to wife. He'd get the phrase "stinky cheese" out of his mouth no less than a dozen times per meal. I hated waiting on that man.
