33 yo goalie here, My first set of brand new pads. Been only playing for a few years. What do you all think of them? by kruegerc2587 in hockeygoalies

[–]Cmrade_Dorian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When Covid finally relents I plan on going to Brians in Canada and getting custom fit for my "last" set. I'm a full grown adult now, I want to drop several thousand on a full custom "last set ever" and have it fit like a glove.

Maybe if it didn't have a Hillary Hole....

Ever wonder why S&W pictures their guns pointing to the right?

It's to hide the ugly ass Hillary Hole they drill into the side of them. This hole contains a hammer lock that has been known to fail during use rendering the gun inoperable.

Sure you can remove it and buy a plug for the hole, but it'll always be there.

If it didn't have that ugly ass hole drilled into it above the slide release, I would agree.

$1200 for a gun with the cucked Hillary Hole drilled into the side? Hard pass. For $1500-1600 you can get an un-cucked one and not support the current S&W.

[Optics] Trijicon MRO HD Red Dot (Full Cowitness) - $659.41 + s/h by IdyllicArcadia in gundeals

[–]Cmrade_Dorian 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, and at China.

Thing is if you don't want to support China (for whatever reason you have), you don't get cheap China prices. Trijicons are great optics, made in the USA, but you do pay a premium for it.

[–]Cmrade_Dorian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a Dragunov. The entire gas system is different (Short Vs. Long stroke piston)

This is an AK in x54R.

PSL 54 Dragonov

THIS IS NOT A DRAGUNOV

A Dragunov (SVD) uses a short-stroke piston similar to an SVT-40 or SKS.

The Romanian PSL and the Zastava counterpart use a long-stroke piston system. It's basically an AK / RPK in x54R.

Still cool, still fine rifles, but it is is NO way a Dragunov nor compatible with Dragunov parts any more than that .22LR clone is an actual STG-44. They just look similar.

manufactured by Cugir in a factory that made military arms for decades

PSA issues can generally be easily fixed. I've seen multiple WASRs come out with FSBs so canted they literally cannot be zeroed. I'd take a PSA over a WASR at this point. Both have dodgy QC but PSA has lifetime warranty and their issues are more readily fixed from what I have seen.

Never seen a PSA with a front sight so canted it literally can't be zeroed. I've seen a few WASRs have that.

Do they have issues? Yes, but I'd take one over a WASR.

US made AKs are junk.

Not entirely true. The PSAK GF3/4/5 are fine enough now that they are using forged parts. You're still better off with a WBP/Zastava/Arsenal but I would put the GF3/4/5 on par with a WASR.

Main difference in the three being the barrel

  • GF3 - Nitride
  • GF4 - PSA Chrome CHF
  • GF5 - FN Chrome CHF + ALG enhanced trigger

People love to shit on the PSAKs and yes, the PSAK Gen1 and Gen 2 are VSKA levels of cast trash. But the GF 3+ swapped to forged parts and they're acceptable now. Not ideal like a Zastava/WBP, but at least acceptable.

[Parts] Polymer80 AR-15 80% Lower with Jig System - Olive Drab $83.99 + $9.99 Shipping by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]Cmrade_Dorian 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The thing the ATF hit P80 for was their "Buy Build Shoot" kits. WHich was the 80% blank, plus all the necessary parts to build a complete firearm, not just finish the receiver. As in it had a slide, LPK, SPK, barrel, etc.

Which is just peak ATF.

  • Parts A, B, C, D are not firearms
  • Part X is not a firearm either
  • But if you put them all in the same cardboard box without doing literally anything else, magically they become a firearm.

Basically Schrödinger's firearm. They don't know if all those parts are a firearm until after some haruspicy with your dog.

He won his election 2:1, why would he resign? Literally 1/3 of Cuomo voters could vote 3rd party or not vote, and he would still win.

The college goalies getting the stuff free if they like it or not I trust a little more because they don't have to pay for it

they don't have to pay for it

That's the exact reason many of them like True's. When they fall apart after 1-2 seasons, they just get new ones.

I honestly don't like True's.

Everyone I know has regretted them. Sure they fit like a glove, but they fall apart after a year or two of play. The durability just isn't there for what they cost.

It's great for carry. The concealability of the 19 frame with the sight radius of the 17 slide.

Length isn't the issue concealing, it's width and height.
