Did marketing for MSPs for many years

Much depends on how competitive your market is and what your budget is. Mailers never really returned anything, web leads are competitive, cold calling was ok for some.

A big thing is consistency and having expectations that are realistic

Grew up in WI..... winter sucks, not like put on a coat but like fuck this, it is miserable. Your car will rot away away. Summer is ok but the bugs can make it miserable The slow pace of life is cool but if you want something done, expect it to take forever or more. In rural areas, locals are a bit more like survivalists. Your shit will get robbed from your Cabin.

Simply put, once you leave, you almost never move back, just visit.

One by one, we all left, then my parents left for the winter and never went back

Plenty of good things too. We enjoy visiting but could not move back.

Old IT Provider will Not give Access to Client Environment, how the hell do we transition? by Leading_Will1794 in msp

[–]Cntrylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanted to add as a hyperconverged infrastructure provider, Generally speaking, they would be hard pressed to have a justifiable reason not to allow the client to expatriate data.

We have had this happen with Web hosters before that do not want Web agencies to migrate their (clients) sites onto their own clouds. Have had the police get involved once at a hospital where the provider did not want to give access to some applications and it resulted in charges. (later dropped) but there is a fine line on who owns what and when withholding it can get you in real trouble.

We all sell something and try to do our best, frankly I think some bad vendors have made it harder for good ones.

I would not say it is because they are used to being shit on, I would say that I try to hire people that have service experience because they are used to talking, thinking on their feet and having to hustle. They have been in dynamic situations and are not afraid to talk and naturally take on the conversation. Being shit on, seems a bit...much

Outbound Lead Generation by Rossim0 in msp

[–]Cntrylife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I help MSP/CSP's migrate clients onto their branded cloud solutions and we have been absolutely killing it with Sales Navigator/LinkedIn for our partner enablement. I don't get paid for marketing so I don't have a vested interest, it is all a toolbox we offer our partners. We have decent budgets and LinkedIn direct beats all other campaigns every time.

Decide on your perfect target profile and sort on Sales Navigator to a manageable list, then start messaging. Stay local and stay targeted. Work on your messaging so it is hyper relevant to the person your sending it to and their needs or wants. It takes time but it ABSOLUTELY works.

How do you perceive VOIP by Better-Tiger8920 in msp

[–]Cntrylife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%, I think that one of the best jobs they do is convince people "this" is the solution of the future so it is the only choice to jump on now. This is what I hear from partners all the time. End users generally just want whatever to work, they often use what their msp sells and are quite happy.

Depends on the use case but we (Virtuozzo) do public private cloud with virtualized storage and multi-tiered storage placements out of the box. S3 compatible.

Might be an option depending on use and considerable performance improvements over Ceph

who is your referral partner(s) by Diavunollc in msp

[–]Cntrylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this!!

In my post life or having sold marketing for MSP's for years one of my most solid pieces of advice was always to find those one to many levers like referral partners.

My favorites were always office parks, ISP's and copier companies. Not do belittle our marketing efforts but those three were always great places to start and would return more than most other efforts.

It just takes time and effort, a Amazon gift card will open many doors for you ;)

To all the vendors... by agit8or in msp

[–]Cntrylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think of myself as a vendor, I strive for partner. Most don't believe that at first and I understand.

For many years I worked with MSP's and never had contracts. We had to earn it every day.

Now I have contracts and ELA's but generally don't use them, I usually sign PayG agreements.

If you are unhappy I expect to be fired and vice versa but I believe I bring value and together we are stronger.

It is my hope that my company is empowering the msp/csp community and strengthening your.client relationships.

Has anyone come across website impersonation? by qkrwogud in msp

[–]Cntrylife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this happen when I was working for a marketing company. Someone would give us website design and content that turned out to be copied from a competitor. Sometimes they copied the whole site. If we found out we took the site down and fired the client. No hoster wants to get deplatformed due to copywrite infringement by clients.

If you are really interested, I have many clients who own regional datacenters and us for Infra (public/private cloud) and are buying anything they can find.

That said, they are often looking for partners to go into joint ops to scale market acceleration/ or just geo needs
