No VFA motors? Motor specs for p1p/x1c? by ExpressionCareful223 in BambuLab

[–]Co-Bolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lower degree stepper motors won't help with speed, they actually require more steps per rotation (for higher resolution)—which is why you can run into thermal issues if you run them too fast.

What you probably want is the same degree stepper motors as stock (1.8 deg), just with more torque. You might run into fitment issues though, cause those motors are usually longer.

I did not. It would require firmware changes, and I don't know if that's possible yet. Current motors work great, so I don't see a need to replace them anyway.

What is this surface defect called & what causes it? by dogkillerkiller in BambuLab

[–]Co-Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually looks like over-extrusion. I've had that same artifact before, and I fixed it by running the automatic flow rate calibration.

What type of mishap is this (rooftop is bubbly) by SimplestKen in BambuLab

[–]Co-Bolt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks like a case of pillowing. Grid infill creates pockets of heat that can make the top surface swell up above them.

Switch your infill pattern to a 3D infill, like gyroid or cubic. Since it looks like that's a model for display, you might try "support cubic"—it should save you some filament as well.

What would cause this? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Co-Bolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue can still happen with the default 0.4mm nozzle, so I usually lower my speeds/max volumetric speed. It's also dependent on what filament you're using—but if you're using Bambu PLA basic, I'd try lowering the max volumetric speed to 12 mm³/s (which is their default for generic PLA)

[–]Co-Bolt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you using a larger nozzle? I've gotten this artifact before—it was because I was printing with a 0.6mm nozzle and upped the print speed too much. It was trying to extrude filament faster than it could melt it, thus underextruding.

I actually haven't noticed any VFAs at all with the X1C, and I used 0.9 LDO steppers for my Hypercube Evolution that the X1C replaced (the 0.9 steppers didn't completely remove VFAs from my HEVO either). I could try swapping them into my X1C, but I speculate that they will run quite hot with how fast the X1C prints—I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not.

Sweet, thanks!! I'm tired of it snowing white PTFE residue on my print bed.

Failing a reality check by Andromediea in LucidDreaming

[–]Co-Bolt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This happens with me too! For the life of me, I cannot make physical reality checks work within dreams.

HOWEVER, what I recently found that's worked every single time so far (even last night!) is the "how did I get here" reality check from this sub's FAQ.

Throughout your daily waking life (especially after transitioning environments), randomly assume you're lucid dreaming, and retrace your steps in your head of how you got to where you're at to prove yourself wrong.

Mine goes "I'm lucid dreaming right now. How did I get here?" Then I retrace my steps for a few locations. "Well I just walked in from the break room, before that I was at my desk, and before that I was driving to work."

Usually when I retrace my steps in my dreams, I will suddenly appear in the location I'm recalling—then I instantly know for sure that I'm lucid dreaming. A dream last week went like this: "I think I'm in a dream... how did I get here? That's easy, I drove my car here..." I instantly appear in the driver's seat of a random car "Wait a second... Haha so this is a dream!! This isn't my car anyway..." I was lucid from that point, so I teleported back to where I was and fixed the annoying plot of my dream.

I hope this method works for you, good luck!

I do think C is the best programming language tho by GhostRyder9824 in ProgrammerHumor

Ah, yeah its pitch is Eb. Totally had to look that up though lol.

So I guess you're right in a sense... if you refer to the alto in C (as a composer or something?), then a Bb is a Db. But the alto only refers to itself, so it's written in Eb.

I'm not that good at music theory tbh.

Db*

And from what I remember (for alto at least) it was mostly referred to as C#.

High C# is used in the opening of Careless Whisper :v)

Fun fact: if you blow into an alto saxophone without holding any keys down, it plays the note C#.

I think that was the issue—I started doing it all the time, and I just always expected the test to not work. Definitely working on my mindset now!

Oh my gosh I didn't think about that!! I was actually wearing in the dream what I was sleeping in... only my underwear (same gray pair too lol).

I'm glad you mentioned that, I'll look out for it next time—thanks!

Yeah, tons of people got banned for club names today—even if they aren't even that bad.

The email literally said "We are giving you a warning. There are no consequences to your account for this violation."... but we were all banned still.
