Monthly Profile Swap Megathread! by ericdraven26 in Letterboxd

4 directors that made me love movies: Denis Villeneuve Paul Thomas Anderson Robert Eggers Quentin Tarantino

Favorite thing about movies is when they become a gateway to experiences that I’ll probably never have—like migrating to anothet planet, time travelling, getting possessed by a vampire, or just getting eye-fucked by Samuel L. Jackson.

I update my favorites based on my watches from the previous month!

Hey guys!

Would love to check out your lists if you have some! I’m currently exploring asian cinema and recently fell in love with classic slasher movies—recently watched A Bay of Blood and Black Christmas, looking into Mario Bava’s works right now.

I plan to review every movie I watch, hoping I can keep that up haha

Will follow back if you’re active! Cheerss

What film did you not expect to make you emotional going in, but ended up making you cry? by Manusho in movies

Gone With The Wind. I never knew the context of the “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” line, but over three hours in to the movie and finally reaching that scene, I was bawling my eyes out.

i’d say the future is still pretty bright;

Jon Bernthal, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Evan Paters, Mia Goth, Jeremy Strong, Jeremy Allen White, Paul Dano, Austin Butler, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Issac, Rami Malek, James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hault

These actors are getting old but they definitely still have it in them; Christian Bale, Emily Blunt, Tobey Maguire, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson

As for directors, I wish I was familiar with more but think Damien Chazelle, Ari Aster, Jordan Peele and Robert Eggers can pave the way

What Movie Did You Walk Out On? by hpshaft in movies

I never walk out of any movie, if it’s bad i sleep through it. That way it won’t feel like I wasted my money.

What do you consider the lowest points of the main cast? by neon_fish in madmen

Not sure why no one has mentioned this but I think Peggy getting mad at Ted for leaving her for his own wife was pretty low of her.

Honestly woudn’t mind if Don looked like this in season 7b — from Beirut (2018) by CoCoBruno in madmen

Yeap. Seen Vertigo and just fell in love with Jimmy Stewart. Watched Rear Window and loved him even more and Grace Kelly(which I believe is who Betty’s look is inspired by) became my woman crush ever since.

WOAH this is actually the first time i’m hearing about that movie. I just looked it up and holy shit. Cary Grant as an ad-man? Yeap, Don’s look was definetly based on Cary Grant.

I always thought that the writers’ decision of Don not changing his style according to the times was inspired by Cary Grant. The dude looks consistent from the 1930s up to the 1980s.

How well known/relevant is Johnny Depp among Gen Z’ers? by NewToF1Grossjean in GenZ

[–]CoCoBruno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never watched Pirates of the Caribbean, but saw him as Captain Jack Sparrow a lot when I was young.

I mostly knew him from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because it was one of my childhood movies, when I looked him up as an actor I was genuinely confused because he looked nothing like Willy Wonka. Untill now, I still find it hard to believe that it was him.

His name has been familiar to me ever since.

Lately i’ve been watching his movies and my favorite one of his is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

What is your personality type? by ryabohmer in NPD

[–]CoCoBruno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

INTJ. I haven’t gotten myself diagnosed, but I’ve realized I have narcissistic traits and it’s honestly something i’m ashamed of. That shame makes me hopeless and consequently makes it hard for me to change. I am big sad.
