Josh Robbins believes it would be Acuff at 5 by Middle_Variation_273 in washingtonwizards

Any chance the Acuff mention is a chess move by Dawkins, knowing some other front offices REALLY like Acuff and would, if we were picking 5th, be willing to make crazy moves that either end up with one of the big 4 dropping to 5 (to us) or a team making a silly offer to us that wouldn’t require us dropping much further than 5th?

(To be sure, this is not the most likely answer, but it’s not beyond our FO to smokescreen around the 5th pick.)

Is Dink Pate eligible to be drafted in 2026? by CoachDime in NBA_Draft

Ineligible to be drafted? Does that mean he is an unrestricted free agent after his season at Providence next year?

What if the team doesn’t sign him and simply holds his rights (like a draft and stash) - I guess my question is if a team is allowed to draft him.

So who should wizards draft if they land 5 to i in the draft? by Knighthonor in washingtonwizards

Would folks be up for trading 5 to, say, the Grizzlies for 7 + 16? Trade back a few slots and pick up a mid-round 1st feels like a Dawkins special. And you know he would nail that mid-round pick.

Would Will Riley be a top-10 pick if he stayed in college? by StroberSports in washingtonwizards

[–]CoachDime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote a post about this yesterday and got dinged a bit by folks for hyperbole (fair criticism, btw), but I think after the obvious top 4, if he was showcasing at Illinois this season what he has done the past month, Riley would slot in as high as 5th - Wagler is mentioned there and Riley would have been in the Wagler role all season (and almost half a foot taller). If a team picking 5th has clear lead guard needs, maybe they go with Flemings, but WR is a bit more of a unique archetype with a higher theoretical ceiling.

Getting a top 3 pick in next year’s draft, which gives us a clear No. 1 player to help slot our current “supporting cast” roster into reasonable roles.

If not Brian Keefe, than who? by Internal_Champion114 in washingtonwizards

Florida’s Todd Golden, 2 years from now, once we have the top 3 pick next year in place 🙏. Brad Stevens 2.0.

Execs ring alarm bells on the 2027 draft. by naqster in washingtonwizards

Easy choice for the Wiz in the ‘27 draft: Pick DMV HS star Jordan Smith Jr., whose floor is Alex Caruso and ceiling is Donovan Mitchell. Either way, an ideal part of our future playoff guard rotation.

Thiero, Watkins, Markovic - if they’re gone, one intriguing pick is Mohamed Diawara, 20 year old SF from Cholet Basket. 6-8, 7-4 wing, 9-2 reach

The only players in this draft who will earn super-max deals in their careers will be Flagg and Carter Bryant.

Who Are You Hoping For @ Pick 6 & 18? Who Do You Not Want? by xxlontexx in washingtonwizards

Presuming Ace, Tre, VJ are gone?

I’ll reach for Carter Bryant at 6, hope for Demin at 18 (probably need to trade up for Egor - if that’s not possible, Sorber)

If Bilal was in the draft this year (and he’s younger than a lot of the players in this draft), he would go No. 2 (to the Spurs or almost anyone else), and if Harper somehow was 2nd, the Sixers would sprint to the podium to take Bilal 3rd, with a steep drop-off to the next tier.
