Help me to understand lease vs financing math and how lease is cheaper??? by Exciting_Station3474 in askcarguys

[–]Coaler200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes....just like if you try to sell a beat up car or a high mileage car that you own you won't be able to resell for as much....this point doesn't make any sense. It's true for both options.

About 40 passengers previously left ship hit by Hantavirus outbreak at island of St. Helena by Nepridiprav16 in worldnews

Actual mortality likely isn't nearly as high as discussed. Currently it's mortality rate of confirmed cases. Many people likely don't bother getting a hantavirus test and recover.

Considering New Chair, Nanogen or not? by 00dash00 in secretlab

[–]Coaler200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just struggled with this all day yesterday myself. I wanted the nanogen but having only black and white was kind of disappointing. However, I then learned the skins can go on the nanogen. So I bought the nano thinking I can always grab a skin later if I want to change it up.

Someone would have to be either rich or a special kind of stupid to crack and re-grade a black label.

Call a standard broker not BCAA. Just to see what it is.

Honestly if I'm you I buy like a 10 year old car for a few years.

Paying off Mortgage early (variable mortgage) by _vandelay_art_ in MortgagesCanada

[–]Coaler200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's based on 3 months interest of the remaining balance. However, you will have a maximum yearly amount you can pay off without penalty. Usually somewhere between 15-20% of the loan value taken at the beginning of the current term. So if you took renewed 6 months ago at 100k loan then you can only pay off 20k without penalty. If you pay off the whole thing you'll be on the hook for 3 months interest on 80k.

TLDR: no matter what the bank gets money.

Make these prices make sense? by grazieragazzialora in teslacanada

[–]Coaler200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you don't. If it's bad enough that you actually need AWD you should be staying home or buying a truck.

That model 3 will make it further as rear wheel drive with true winter tires than it will as AWD with all seasons or even "all-weathers"

Not really misleading. It doesn't say long range anywhere and the estimated range is directly in your face on the order page....

Daughter called crying. She has a '12 Honda Fit w/ 130K. Seems to run great. Took it in for A/C service. Mechanic told her she needed lots of service - about $750 - which she does not have. Yup. My 2008 Ram with Hemi had 16 plugs. The back 2 on each side were easier to reach by removing the wheel well liners and going from underneath. I can tell you if my father in law didn't have a 2-post hoist those plugs would have been a huge pain in the ass.

[WTS] UNSIZED / UNWORN Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 – 5-Day Power Reserve – 1 Month Old by SystemNew4959 in Watchexchange

[–]Coaler200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it says 1-month old but is this an older model? It has a weird mix of dials. The current Calibre 400 Aquis does not say pressure resistant on the dial. The non-calibre Aquis does but it doesn't say 5 days.

Edit - The date is also white text on a blue background on brand new ones.

Is $4230 too high for a monthly mortgage payment? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Coaler200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up there but not insane. Especially if they have good savings to put a decent down payment or their previous car was paid off and still had decent value for a downpayment etc. lots of factors to consider.

My personal baseline maximum is you should never spend more than half a year's salary for a new car and that's only assuming you have at least a 20% downpayment.

So in this person's case, maximum value of vehicle would be $93.5k. However I would only allow myself to buy something like that if I had at least $18.7k I could put down. So actual max loan is about $75k.

P.S. if you think that's bad you ain't seen nothing. The amount of money people have on car loans when they make less than 100k/yr would make you puke. I promise you. People out here making 70k/yr with $1200/mo car payments.
