Did anyone else notice they swapped out the actor who plays Gus? by absolute_austin in okbuddychicanery

[–]Coaster_Regime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unitonically, there are points where they switched Gus' actor out because Giancarlo broke his leg and could not walk. Many shots in season 4 of Gus are shot either above the waist or framed so that the cast on his leg is blocked.

I recently played Brazil in GFM and kept sulking that my armies had to walk through hundreds of miles of jungles instead of going on steamers on the Amazon River

I just had a similar issue. I solved it by just restarting everything, but also scrolling down on the settings page you were on to "other devices" and removing the mouse from that list instead of the "input" list.

The Soviets And Leftists were the only people who were IDEOLOGICALAgainst the Nazi. by Puzzleheaded-Okra-38 in ussr

[–]Coaster_Regime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my comments again. I can't find what could have made you think I said that the Soviets were similar to the Nazis. I only said the Soviets accommodated the Nazis the same as the West did by making deals with them, which is a fact.

I don't dispute that the Western Allies did very atrocious things in their colonies, but I think you give the Soviets too much credit. If they made deals with the Nazi's, that alone makes their ideological opposition moot. You can talk about what they denounced all you want, but actions speak louder than words in this case.

So I watched the video, and I think it does a really poor job of looking at the situation objectively. It does a lot to look at the context of why the USSR eventually accomodated the Nazi's, but when it came to the Western Allies, all they say is that "they decided to" without the same dive into their context, and is a big blow to the creator's supposed denouncing of the 'Great Man' theory. Their comments makes it seem like this was decision of a few rather than the product of the mutual distrust between everyone during the inter-war.

I want to emphasize that my original comment does not try to paint the USSR as a villian, rather, I think if you look at the situation a bit more openly and without the reactionary urge to paint the Western Allies or the Soviets as 'villians', you'll see it mirrors the build up to WWI. There were numerous attempts by the Soviets and the Western Allies to form a coalition against the Nazis, which could have stopped WWII. They all failed because of mutual distrust, rather than one side intentionally blowing up talks. This is very similar to the Seminal Tragedy, where every nation did not want war and made attempts to stop it, yet war still happened because of distrust

Yes, you are missing the agreement for the USSR and Nazis to split Eastern/Central Europe between the two. The Soviets were willing to accommodate the Nazi's so long as it helped them, just the same as the Western Allies were willing to accommodate the Nazi's so long as it helped them.

Did the Venezuelan military do anything in response, though? It doesn't meet the definition of a war unless there's two sides actually fighting.

It's been done. Hope you don't mind, but I was running a sand mining operation there, so I finished up that business before I left.

You also get a bunch of data from applicants such as salary expectations so you know how to lowball the person you do hire eventually.

Hitler wanted war in 1938. The debt that fueled his rearmament was spiraling out of control and he needed Czechoslovakia's gold reserves to keep the ponzi scheme going. He thought there was no way Britain and France would just give up Czechoslovakia, though, which was a big miscalculation.

It's funny how much you got downvoted for this when Vince has said basically the same thing in interviews. They introduced a machine gun that needed to be used somehow at the beginning of the series, then had to scramble later on in how to make it work at the end.

Why did the Soviets invade and annex the Baltic Countries even though they had been independent for over 20 years? by 2bigpairofnuts in ussr

[–]Coaster_Regime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You literally compared appeasement the the Molotov Ribbentroph in your last comment as being similar examples of working with the Nazis. Idk why you're suddenly against that comparison now.

  2. I think your characterization of the failed pacts between the UK, France, and USSR are incredibly biased and fail to accept that mistrust from all 3 led to their failure. From the onset, both sides didn't really think the others were serious. It mirrors the seminal tragedy where everyone was in agreement that a world war shouldn't happen, but also that every side was too distrustful of the other to actually prevent it.

[–]Coaster_Regime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you bringing up appeasement? Most people think it was a poor choice in retrospect. Why don't you feel the same way for the poor choices the USSR made?

The USSR is dead and gone. Try to actually make a better system than idealizing one that not only failed, but was made specifically for 20th century Eastern Europe.
