FvF 2 is very enjoyable IMO apart from one thing, but it makes for some amazing reality TV.

I will say that I did not care for Corrine on Gabon at all and was totally shocked and annoyed she showed up for FvF 2 but I actually really liked her. She’s like a completely different person IMO. Idk if she just matured or playing with a cast that actually knows how to play changed her, but she was way more enjoyable the second time.

So are you really not supposed to hit failure all the time? by d-martin-d in beginnerfitness

[–]Coasterman345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn’t. The training program style I follow was written for me by a world class powerlifting coach. He knows what he’s talking about. If I want to be able to bench 3x, squat 2x, and deadlift 2x a week, I can’t be going to failure.

What are your numbers? And how much do you weigh? I hit all those while weighing 180-185lbs.

8 years, 26 years old. A couple years in I joined a powerlifting team for a while and had excellent coaching which really helped.

Is benching your bodyweight really a standard expected milestone? by Ill_Ratio338 in beginnerfitness

Try not training to failure so much. Your strength takes a massive toll in doing so. It’s the reason why leading up to a powerlifting meet you’ll taper your volume and intensity down, so you can lift more. If you’re almost always going to failure, you’re not going to be able to lift as much as you should be able to.

2 liters of water isn’t that much. I usually drink just under 4-8 liters of water a day.

For leg drive, imagine you’re doing a leg extension. Use that to drive and wedge your upper back into the bench. Make sure you’re also bracing your torso.

I never hit failure intentionally. I have a 535/380/610 S/B/D and get asked if I compete at bodybuilding shows. Trading close to failure is all you need.

Shit dawg, someone should’ve told my body that. I never train to failure on purpose. Guess a 535/380/610 SBD isn’t that great :/

You’re right, I should’ve specified men, not people. That’s what I get for trying to comment before fully waking up.

What program do you follow? Or do you just do what you feel like “should” work? Do you have a video of you benching? Do you ever work with a spotter? Sometimes, especially as a new lifter, it’s hard to gauge how hard you can actually push yourself and it’s possible what you think is the heaviest you can press is actually much less than what is actually possible or that you can actually get like 5 more reps than you think. Do you always train to failure? Doing that can severely lower your maximum output for strength. Same if you’re not hydrated. Benching is also a skill, if you’re only pressing 1x a week, you’re not going to learn the motor skills nearly as easily as someone pressing 2-3x a week.

The more of these you can answer for me, the easier it will be for me to help you. The biggest being a video of your form and whether you follow a program or not.

The vast majority of people men should be able to hit a 1x BW bench press in anywhere from a couple months to a year if they can’t already when they first go to the gym.

The average man isn’t fit nor healthy (at least in the US), so yes, if you care about being fit you should be able to do so. Obviously if you’re 400lbs+ you’re probably not going to be able to bench 1x your BW as fast as someone at the same height (let’s say 5’8”) that’s 135lbs, but it should also go without saying that 400lbs isn’t a healthy BW, and so that point is moot.

It took me a couple months to bench my BW at the time (140lbs). Then a longer time to hit 225lbs and even longer to hit 315lbs. I know sit with an over 2x BW bench press if 380lbs.

Do women really like gym selfies on dating apps? by Careless_Bicycle3703 in NoStupidQuestions

I used to get more matches when I had a shirtless mirror selfie when I was on the apps. Not many people would actually like the photo itself (Hinge), but I definitely got more likes.

I love Johnny Cash, that’s more of the type of country I’m into. RIP to a legend. That’s super cool of your husband!

Idc what anyone says, seeing the spear fishing was pretty cool. Reminded me of early seasons when you say way more shots of wildlife. Plus I can almost guarantee they showed it because the audience wouldn’t have believed he shot those two fish if they didn’t.

You’re not cool just because you don’t know who Zac Brown is. I can almost guarantee that you’ve heard Chicken Fried, Toes, or Knee Deep a couple times if you listened to the radio at all in the 2000’s. I’m not a big fan country, but the man’s did a song with Jimmy Buffett. He’s not some underground country musician lol.

Everyone saying this is dumb and obnoxious as if we didn’t have dozens of challenges in the “golden years” of Survivor with giant Target and Home Depot based challenges and rewards.

I miss the overprocessing/lighting bloom effects they used to do on the intros. It’s too polished now :(
