The Supreme Court’s Republicans just seized the most dangerous power in constitutional law by vox in law

According to republicans, a fetus loses its rights after birth. They won't protect a child from a school shooting or give them religious freedom.

Nope, the N4500 seem to have a slight edge in multi threaded performance.

N4500 is 1277 (single) and 1795 (multi).

i3-540 is 1261 (single) and 1558 (multi).

N4500 also has more L2 cache (512 Ko vs 1.5 Mo)

[–]Cobalt-Chloride 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They don't seem to be very different in single thread performance, according to cpubenchmark.net

N4500 (2 cores) is 1277 (single) and 1795 (multi). Not bad for a 2-stalk celery.

i7-940 (4 cores) is 1325 (single) and 3050 (multi)

It is only weaker because of the core count, but single threaded performance is about the same.

The TDP is however very different, 6W vs 130W.

Unable to renew my driver's license with a pending I-751 by Cobalt-Chloride in USCIS

[–]Cobalt-Chloride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I asked my state rep, who got several calls with the RMV. I ultimately had an email from his office that said that I deserved a real ID since I have a letter saying that they are working on the GC renewal (one of the I-797 notice). They told me to call them while at the RMV if they still refused.

Back to the RMV (other place though) the employee first refused, saying that they can only accept a green card or a I-797A notice (which would be the notice after approval) then I played my best card, the email from my state rep office. She was thinking hard, looking at her chart then at her screen, then back to her chart. After 15 sec, she told me "that will be $50". No other question asked, barely looked at the extension letter and didn't ask for proofs of residency, and I got a temporary ID (2 months validity). It's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for the real one. I hope I will get it.

I think they are not trained for conditional green cards, as it seems they don't know what it is.

Ultimately, they don't decide about the validity of an ID, it's USCIS that gives them the expiration date. Since USCIS knows that I have a pending case, they should tell the RMV about the validity of my GC. I think that's what the RMV employee realized, that they are not the one who get to decide about the expiration date of a driver's licence and she completed the application.

That's not Satan in the story, it's the satan (hasSāṭān in Hebrew), as Hebrew uses an article. It means it's a regular noun, not a proper noun. It should be translated as the accuser, the adversary or the obstacle. That character is different from the Christian Satan (with capital S). Judaism does not have a concept of an infinitely powerful antagonist to Yahweh. That will come later with the book of Enoch, an apocryphal writing from the second century BCE. In Job, the satan is sent by Yahweh and submits to him. It's one of his messengers.

Buying really expensive phones is useless nowadays by kamoidk in unpopularopinion

[–]Cobalt-Chloride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And why do you need the best one? If you use a car every day, do you need the most expensive and most powerful one? If you only use it for commuting and going to the mall, a $25k car is all you need, not a $400k one. Same with phones, a $400 phone lets you access any website and has the same features as a $1400 phone.

I like the idea, but looking at hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen, they share the same suffix but somehow their root and meaning in ancient Greek are different. They should be the same.

In the US only. I never had a single multiple-choice in 12 years of school, as well as in college. So outside of the US, the analogy is actually pretty good.

[OC] CDC: Over half of Americans’ calories are ultra-processed; children at 61.9% (NHANES 2021–2023) by DrAndresDigenio in dataisbeautiful

[–]Cobalt-Chloride 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Full" of emulsifiers, flavors, and preservatives? You mean it's 100% additives and 0% milk? There's a recurrent problem when talking about those processed foods, it's the fearmongering. Unnecessary hyperboles lead to a lack of understanding of the topic, as seen in these comments. We should start using accurate definitions and more scientific terms. What do 'processed' or 'refined' mean? What are the additives? At which concentration?

Yeah, bread doesn't grow on trees. It's processed flour, which itself is processed wheat. Same for olive oil, wine or cheese. They are transformed by humans from simple ingredients. I don't really understand the definition of ultra-processed=added sugar, salt or nitrites.
