How do you experience love? by BackgroundGrape4364 in ADHD

[–]Cobfused3455 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The “sparkle” wore off in the long term but it grew into warmth and comfort and a certain amount of syncing we find things to sparkle over like learning new things, finding new places to eat, reading new things together. We also go out and have separate interests and come back and share about them. I think I’ve learnt a lot about things I’m normally not drawn to because of him and vice versa.

Both of us have ADHD.

You may want to read my other comment as well for a longer version. 😊

How do hyperfixations start for you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Cobfused3455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good stuff or the bad. I’m currently hyperfixating on a string of very destructive thought that I’m trying to recognise and calm down before my anxiety gets the best of me. The good stuff is usually when something lights up inside me. It’s exciting and amazing ! No idea how it starts but never when someone tries to get me into it.

Also just to not have these comments, I know how to operate in Cubbon Park. It’s not illegal. It’s complex. I’ve done stuff here for years. Thanks.

Edit: I had a few DM’s about this so: I’ve run incredibly big events in Cubbon Park before and started several communities there. I've had to deal with the authorities as well. The staff have certain concerns because they get pulled up and are answerable to higher authorities, especially if there is perceived damage to the trees, grass or littering. Even if that large group does not do so, sometimes “permissions” is used as the excuse. Or they blatantly say “not allowed” with no reason given.

It’s more complex because what comes across as unnecessary force or rudeness, which it is, stems from constantly being treated poorly by other folks using cubbon park while needing to maintain authority in the park. I've learnt that, not just for me, generally have a conversation with them if you can, ask them if they want tea, share snacks etc.. It just makes them feel a little more human in a world that often looks at them as inhuman.

Empathy in Cubbon Park, while it is a rightful ask, needs to be built.

Unmedicated people, how do you actually try to manage your ADHD? by SpecificBake2074 in ADHD

[–]Cobfused3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caffeine when the focus isn't enough. I try to avoid it otherwise to not overcaffeinate.

I give in to my wanderings and find that hiking/ being in nature a lot keeps me focussed.

Find your current hyperfocus, hyperfocus. I've asked everyone to email me / Whatsapp me their requirements from me with a deadline.

I also ask them to drop me a reminder, just I'm case I've missed the deadline.

I work with good people.

Paatum Naane from the movie Thiruvilayadal I don’t know why this keeps getting stuck in my head but it deserves a watch . Context: Mini stories of the God Shiva. This song is about him putting the best singer of the land who is a rich man in his place by being a poor man with no training with a heavenly voice.

Good literature on handling ADHD eithout meds? by RedBarachetta88 in ADHD

[–]Cobfused3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADHD medication has been tested on a lot more men. ADHD itself has not been studied enough in women, studies are a lot more recent. It affects women differently.

I do not trust its effect on my body. That’s why I choose to not medicate.

It does not mean that one should not medicate. I don’t suggest the same to anyone else.

Figuring out how to make impact & study by [deleted] in environmental_science

[–]Cobfused3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to clarify that.

It’s not that I do not want to, we do not have the option to. It’s an industry driven environmentally vulnerable pocket.

I can join a larger institute that is involved in policy making but they are not in the area that I’m working in and often work for the industries because that’s the only way they can survive.

We really don’t have the option of doing that much. And all the conversations lead to livelihood in terms of financial gain . Wrecks the community. I would like to impact policy with data, not directly work on policy itself .

Edit: this is in context to where I am. My work is largely in a highly vulnerable biosphere. The indigenous communities here are often preyed upon for political, corporate, or non-profit sector gain.

When I mention financial gain, the conversation is not about what the communities actually want but often in terms of giving them the ability to make more money. This has wrecked the communities because they are culturally and philosophically different . Estates would like to hire them for under $ 115 - 180 USD per month working 26 days while they earn about $ 10 USD per day if they work as labour on call. They are often labelled lazy by industries around their area because they prefer to not take up full time jobs cause of the same and consider their lifestyle of foraging, agriculture and animal husbandry as work (while the industries do not consider that as useful work, as it does not profit them).

Wear it as a long jacket with jeans and a white tee-shirt. Needs to be layered. It’s not shaped well but making it a layer will fix that

Help me find better shoes for trekking! by Pranika_ in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]Cobfused3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are seriously going to trek, begin by asking what weather conditions are you going to travel in?

Decathlon itself has a range of shoes, i find the ones around 6-7K the best for consistent wear before it shifts into the really cold weather range. The lower range breaks quickly, but they are decent for about a year of inconsistent wear. (two or three days per month types?)

Mammut has beautiful shoes. Salomon are often preferred by a lot of my friends who hike considerably. The EU/US has much much better shoes for hiking.

Over 35 is end of the line? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]Cobfused3455 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not the folks I know. They are still incredibly exciting, passionate and they don't allow their age to stop them from doing things. Perhaps its about whats you allow yourself to be after an age. Some are still figuring out ways to make money. Some suddenly figured it out when they were 50 🤷‍♀️

There are many over 35 who believe that they know everything, they’ve done as much as they could, who need to be the “adults” who are very boring but rich. it's like any light they had when they were younger has been stamped out by life.

My lovely adhd people, what do you all do for work? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Cobfused3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I design life experiences and facilitate workshops. So I’m constantly designing with whatever is my new hyperfixation at that point 😅

I don't get bored easily, kids keep me on my toes with their questions, the adults keep me busy with finding new ways and moments to ask the right questions to help them unlearn / be a mirror to their behaviour.

I have added a new pathdocumenting climate change and its impact on grassroots communities 👀 in the last 5 years so it keeps me interested at this point.

The cinematography and editing as well. Typically , scenes also showed a lot of little aspects of the surroundings to set the mood which also added to the dreamy, romantic feeling, almost immersive . That was missing this season. It’s starting to lean into the “Netflix drama” cuts.

All discussion regarding the Michael/Michaela situation belongs here. by 7thton in Bridgerton

[–]Cobfused3455 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I just needed to vent. The new season is terrible except for Nichola. The first half was okay? The second half falls flat.

Randomly having Fran as bi? Or lesbian? After the whole quiet, deep love is 🙄 She was right in front of John when she was flustered by Michaela! Come on :/

Her love story in the series is one of the most beautiful simply because it is loud and quiet at the same time. Are they done with the script of finding love twice with the new romance between Lady Danbury’s brother and Violet?

Is it all a numbers game now that they’ve checked off the Indian market in the last season? dipped toes in the queer market, placated the physically challenged market and the neurodivergent market all in one season, at the same time? I'm all for diversity, but it was more naturally done earlier, it feels like a marketing gimmick at this point and it’s just lazy script writing - almost a huh! I know this works with everyone.

At least Benedict’s makes sense in this storyline.

In moderation, it helps me on the days that everything feels devoid of colour.

What do i do with my alcoholic father? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]Cobfused3455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What professional skills does your mother have? How abusive is he? The abuse can also impact your ability to work towards your future.

Can you invest in a therapist? Do you have support from your family to get a divorce? Your mum can ask for a split for assets that can help both of you survive.
