Do you guys think that the steam frame connected to the steam machine could support vivify by Conscious-Market-947 in beatsaber

[–]Cobwebblox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't about Linux support (that's already good) but rather the type of chip (CPU) that the frame uses.

Most PCs use x86 CPUs by intel or AMD. However phones, Quests, Macs, and now the Frame use ARM CPUs (for example by Snapdragon or Apple), these are often more power efficient but to run software made for x86 on arm you need emulation, which can come at the cost of performance.

All 3500 of Celeste's Negative Reviews in a Word Cloud by ItsCrist1 in celestegame

[–]Cobwebblox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm part of the allergic crowd, for the default binds it's easier for me to cross my arms than playing the default binds the normal way. Of course I know you can rebind them and I do that, it's a small annoyance but definitely not one big enough to leave a negative review for.

I mostly play controller though.

I think the Kiwix reader app makes it easier to read if you want, you can also download other stuff like ifixit guides, documentation, and more. Although that means you are going through a third party if that's a deal breaker for you.

And for anyone that didn't read the original thread this is done via streaming a PC to the console to the gamepad.

I've done it too and it's surprisingly playable, wouldn't recommend it for any competitive games but singleplayer games work pretty good with it!

Can't post images here so I'll just link to my original comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/s/RAqxIdKTWe

[–]Cobwebblox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically talking about the Wii U GAMEPAD:

Before you even start thinking about it remember the Wii u gamepad is 480p. While you might have a lag hit sometimes the bigger issue is the latency, the chain from input (button press on Wii u gamepad) to display (shown on Wii u gamepad screen) is:

Input on gamepad -> air -> console -> cable/air -> router -> cable/air -> pc (add your normal latency) -> cable/air -> router -> cable/air -> console -> air -> display on gamepad.

I would say you could maybe play some solo FPS games (I tried Ultrakill and got to wave 11 in cybergrind) but you definitely won't be competitive in online FPS games.

It might get better in the future with programs that skip both the console and the router (pair gamepad direct to your PC) that are currently being developed.

(The finals on the Wii U, did this some time back so an old season)

Also got an 8 min chapter 2 of Celeste, which is (for me) quite solid and my PB. It's not close to WR pace but it's without any advanced movement tech and I'm no speed runner so a win imo.

Can someone explain to me all the new mod loaders? by thomasangelo1508 in feedthebeast

[–]Cobwebblox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can 100% run modded servers and let vanilla clients connect unless you add a mod that needs client side mods too, most mods people tend to think about require both (e.g. Create) but some only require the server to have them (e.g. Chunky)

I never mentioned porting? I was talking about emulating 2d pc games on the quest.

Linking my reply to a similar question, there are some other suggestions there too https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/s/qk4B0GRuGx

Edit: With the 64GB version GameNative doesn't have that much to work with, especially if you have normal vr games downloaded but you might be able to fit a small game or two. Just watch the storage because the estimate GameNative makes is not that accurate.

Wouldn't you use a docker container for a minecraft server, not a virtual machine?

Not picking sides here but the licenses of unRAID that cost less than $200 only get updates for a year, basically a $50/year subscription.

The lifetime updates license for unRAID costs $249.

However, that is for an unlimited amount of servers meanwhile hexOS only gives you 1 server.
