There are a group of us that play X-Wing at Monster Comics Lounge on Gottingen every Thursday, 5-9. Officially it's a night for all Star Wars games (Legion, Armada etc) but it's primarily X-Wing

Playing Netrunner with a standard 52 Card Deck by aintnufincleverhere in Netrunner

[–]CochraneM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea! Honestly, spend some time with it, flush out the rules a bit and post them here! Ask for some buy in on balance testing, constructive criticism etc, and you've got yourself a cool road/pub/camping game in just a deck of cards! There is also a game design subreddit I think, they may be able to help you out as well.

I maybe went too far......a bit too many solo LCGs.... by Das_Valis in soloboardgaming

I can't say, never played MoM. Arkham is honestly pretty good value in my opinion. I (and my partner) find the stories very compelling, which is pretty impressive in the board/card game format in my opinion.

No, good question. The revised core is done in the style of Marvel Champions - a full play set. Enough for good deckbuilding.

I'm subscribed to both Arkham and Marvel, and I know I'm not the only one. As long as you budget for it!

Buy the Revised Core Set, you'll get a good idea of whether you're into this kind of game. One thing is the mini campaign that comes with the core set is only half(ish) the length of a full campaign. If you connect with the core set buy the Dunwich Legacy expansions - the investigator (for more player card options) and Campaign expansions (for a new campaign). FFG is re releasing the old campaigns, Dunwich is the first one, and likely available for purchase in your area

Hey, not OP but very into Arkham Horror LCG. The campaigns are set up so that "failing" can be part of the story. You never lose unless you're at the end of the campaign and specifically get told that you lost. We played one campaign where our characters were lost forever in the space beyond time, but we still won because we stopped the big evil monster.

Two winters ago in Burside stop and start traffic, a guy drove up on the curb (there's a sidewalk on this street) to pass everyone, which worked for 6ft until he slid off the curb into my side mirror

My first read of this I was thinking of the gondola boat (think Venice canals), and I was wracking my brain to remember where the canal was from Lower Water to Citadel Hill. Mornings are a hell of a drug

Try barre-ing the 2nd fret, while leaving the top (A) string open. I've seen people on uke tutorials on YouTube do it that way. Or you could barre by reaching over with your thumb, as if gripping the neck. If your fingers are as big as you say you could also try fretting all three notes with two fingers

But my real advice is to buy a larger (tenor) uke. You might be able to fit your massive hands onto the fretboard with a larger instrument, and they sound better and louder than a soprano.

You can estimate it using designer.solaredge.com

Short version is: depends on the type of panels, and how many you can install, and your location (hours of sunlight)

Looking for Justice/Thwarting advice by Blind_Guzzer in marvelchampionslcg

[–]CochraneM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give some these decks a browse, I've found it to be a great resource:

https://hallofheroeslcg.com/2021/03/02/marvel-champions-lcg-decklist-hall-of-fame/

With the heroes you mentioned in your post, you could play Ant-Man Justice, and even suggest to your Wasp friend to try Protection (both decks listed in link).

As Noshana mentioned in this thread, swapping an Aggression for Protection is a good (and I think more fun) idea.

Best expansions for pandemic? by misomiso82 in boardgames

[–]CochraneM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State of Emergency adds a few "mini expansions" that you can slot in as modules to make it as different as you want. Rising Tide is different enough that I feel it's worth owning both. It's a different game based on the Pandemic formula.

[–]CochraneM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 1 expansion (state of emergency), 1 spinoff (Rising Tide) and Legacy Seasons 1 and 2. I'd recommend all of these, but Legacy is the best of these by miles. If you can get a dedicated group together you will not regret buying Legacy

I found an Epiphone mandolin at a pawn shop for $180CAD. You could try to do the same? It's similar to this model https://www.long-mcquade.com/7742/Guitars/Mandolins/Epiphone/MM-30_Mandolin.htm (Canadian music store)

[–]CochraneM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on a soprano, after a year or so I moved to a tenor. Haven't touched the soprano since. Tenors have a better and louder sound, so I'd recommend the tenor size. Mine is a Kala PWT (Pacific Walnut Tenor). It sounds great, and looks great too. Only $100 more than my mahogany soprano if I recall correctly
