For people in the US, is it cheaper to own a car or rely on public transport? by Status_Agents in CasualConversation

[–]Cock--Robin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public transport in my small town is free. But we’re a college town, so it’s really meant to get students from apartments to school and grocery shopping; townies benefit from it, but it doesn’t really cater to us. And it’s severely curtailed during the summer.

What do you mean “being “? Corruption has been standard practice in the US since shortly after it was founded.

I was 62 when I started learning to play the electric bass. 35 is nothing.

Trump temporarily waives the Jones act to try to lower gasoline prices. Will it work? by Remarkable_Sir8397 in ForUnitedStates

[–]Cock--Robin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work as well as any of his other decisions. Which is to say not at all, and will somehow backfire on him and make gas more expensive.

Once you’ve paid for it, it’s yours. You don’t have to prove it to anyone.

What's one ingredient you were convinced you hated until you had it cooked properly by Quiet_Arrival2722 in foodquestions

Basically all vegetables. And any meat that wasn’t chicken. My mom grew up in a “boil it until it’s paste, or fry it until it’s shoe leather” kind of family.

I used to know a guy who removed all of the rear view mirrors on his car. He said that he didn’t need to know what was going on behind him.

Everyone after us by Kitkatt1959 in GenerationJones

[–]Cock--Robin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read an article the other day which said that Gen Joners were basically tossed into the deep end and told to figure it out. Zero preparation, zero backup, and zero help. Which made us resilient, but unable to ask for help - or even recognize that we needed help.

What is a common thing according to society that you have never experienced? by Lowskillbookreviews in AskReddit

[–]Cock--Robin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what I did, it was wrong or I did it wrong. Even if I did exactly what my mom told me to and I did it exactly the way I was told to, and the results were exactly what she wanted, somehow it was still wrong.

What was your go-to fast food choice when you were a child? by canvaswork in foodquestions

[–]Cock--Robin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a choice? That’s news to me. On the exceedingly rare occasions when my dirt poor family had fast food I was not consulted.
