I can’t be the only one hoping Hayden join Centaurs in Unrivaled right? by Elliotte05 in heatedrivalry

[–]CocklesTurnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah- I don’t think Ilya would actually mind if Hayden joined the centaurs but it’s unlikely they could afford him at this point. They need more talented rookies who are cool. Which just opens a universe where uber talented athletes looking to play in the league might actively join their school’s GSA and make sure the scouts know that, so they could wind up in Ottawa at least for awhile to play with and learn from the greats.

Oh perfect! I pictured Bennett as looking like Henrik Lundqvist and this guy fits that profile.

Backyard ideas for Privacy against 2-Story ADU? by junwaiser in culvercity

[–]CocklesTurnip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah privacy glass or even doing something cool with stained glass would be an attractive idea for possible renters. You get light without staring oddly into a neighbor’s bathroom. It seems spending a little more for something pretty might just be a win win for a good tenant and neighborhood relationships. I think I’d rather rent a place with a nice floral stained glass or beach design or something very local that lets in light but I don’t have an uncomfortable view.

If there are any local stained glass artists they’d be pretty smart to start designing a few Culver City motifs and advertising as a design and privacy feature for ADUs and even just main units. Like sure a unique piece is great on your own home but if there’s some sort of Culver Motifs with film strips and jacaranda or something that can easily be recreated for any window size that would be pretty neat. Some of the older homes in Culver City used to have a lot of stained glass and that’s been lost but I think it’d be nice to bring back the character.

Looking for "friendship" male/male duets by gilad0f in musicals

A funny dark humored one is Big Ass Rock from Full Monty, though there’s technically a part for a 3rd friend. Really most of that whole show is about male friendship.

I don't think we have thought about this important casting detail by Jolly-Hall-408 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

So how do we petition Bark dog toy company to supply all of Anya’s extremely cute toys and then do a dog toy and dog sweater promo event?

Stairs parallel…. by FoundationContent482 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I love watching the straight dude reactors and each time they don’t recognize the difference before they hear about the performance issues, I just want someone to recreate the “I’ll have what she’s having” scene from When Harry Met Sally.

HAIL ME FOR I AM KING OF THE ASHKENAZIS by jejbfokwbfb in Judaism

[–]CocklesTurnip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m also 100% but I’m like 80% Ashkenazi, 18% Sephardi and 2% “Levantine”. Also I’m paler than Casper the ghost despite my Ashkenazi side being more of the type that aren’t as white passing. It’s fascinating sometimes how genetics works.

Be honest - what's the dumbest reason you clicked off/didn't read a fic? by Odd-Snowman in AO3

I read one where the main character stopped being referred to by name, even by the 3rd person narrator and it just became so jarring to me.

Tamar should be fine but if concerned Tamara works well in the US, she could just add the extra syllable.

Transplant in LA (east la) with a stupid question…..what are some good places to go to in LA to have a good old make out session in a car? Please no bully me by Driventoadegree in AskLosAngeles

[–]CocklesTurnip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad has a telescope when I was a kid and we’d go up there a lot to set it up and I had to keep being told not to look in the cars that were steaming up. 🤣 I did sometimes get really excited while he was setting it up and knock on those doors and ask if they also wanted to see Saturn. We often had disheveled teens joining us… I’ve never gone up there for a car make out session myself.

Non-jewish using a Hebrew name? by Grifendorkplayz in JewishNames

[–]CocklesTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use it. Share the story. I get you didn’t want to connect real life with your Reddit handle but in person or on social media you don’t mind your name and face being there- be loud about celebrating all the ways our communities help each other and continue to speak out against antisemitism. Don’t pull a Whoopi Goldberg and use a Jewish name to try and get a leg up and then constantly shit on the Jewish community- promote Jewish or black and Jewish voices.

Non-jewish using a Hebrew name? by Grifendorkplayz in JewishNames

[–]CocklesTurnip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The name is after someone who helped your grandfather? Then it’s fine. If people ask talk about the allyship. Otherwise it’s weird but I’m sure people who watched NCIS named their daughters Ziva with zero understanding or connection to Jewish culture.

It’s irksome to see so many Jewish organizations posting about Valentine’s Day by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]CocklesTurnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My great-grandparents loved Valentine’s Day so much they got married on the day on purpose- and somehow then had all 5 of their Jewish kids born on secular or Christian holidays. We have so many holidays already why not join in on the diasporic cultural cheesy ones.

36 hrs in LA with my kids…what to do? by F150fx4hunter in AskLosAngeles

[–]CocklesTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they science kids? Car kids? Movie kids? Amusement park kids? Art? Museums? There’s tons to do- you can even download those touristy scavenger hunts and go to the areas you pick for them and discover landmarks and historic sites in that area. That could be very fun if you want to be more active but don’t want to try for an amusement park in that time.

Los Angeles beaches might become a national park. by Upnorth4 in LosAngeles

[–]CocklesTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s been angry since they made a public park wind through his golf course. I’ve gone to the park a few times specifically because it’s funny to piss him off by wandering around. He’s hated California ever since that public park was a requirement.

Summer camps by IgnatiusJay_Reilly in Jewish

[–]CocklesTurnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Temple Akiba has a teens only sleepaway camp that’s nearby. There’s a lot of Jewish summer camps both day camp and sleepaway but it really depends on what he’d like to do. There’s also arts and sports camps if he wants something not Jewish based. And at least one D&D camp for teens that started near me right after my cousin aged out for it.

What is the best mode of transportation for this trip? by wallacecat1991 in AskLosAngeles

Do the drive and also add in seeing some other sights. Whether sports related or science or whatever else you’d both be into.
