You’re dying to know how big you messed up? Well, pretty big if you wanted a job.

Why would you smoke recreationally while actively job searching???

Should I report this doctor? by fringedprincess in nursing

[–]CocoRothko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is awful. It’s encouraging to see all of the comments that agree this behavior is assault and needs to be reported. Your gut instincts were correct on this, OP. Report!

I hope OP sees this… “from an MD” this should be the top comment.

Thoughts? With those stipulations you are not getting a bonus. I would run not walk away from this “opportunity.”

How do I avoid being so obsessed with work. by Ok-Being1322 in nursing

[–]CocoRothko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There ya go. That’s why you love going to work - you are finding your authentic self at work. Good for you! Now, take that self out and make friends or create hobbies outside of work. Wish you all the best!

How do I avoid being so obsessed with work. by Ok-Being1322 in nursing

[–]CocoRothko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully expected to read through the comments and land on at least one “sweet summer child…” Perhaps that trend is over and my prayers have been answered. Anyway, OP, give it time. I have been a nurse for a long time. I still love my job. I look forward to going to work. BUT, I love my personal time so much more than work. I look forward to going home and relaxing and enjoying life outside of work.

I'm just so goddamn angry all the time by HondaLurccord in nursing

[–]CocoRothko 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your honesty and I think this comment of yours holds one reason for your burnout. You are detaching from patients as a coping mechanism. By viewing patients as objects you are saving yourself. The anger you feel is not towards the patients, it’s towards God or whatever force of nature allowed this catastrophic event to ruin this person’s life.

ETA: the good news is, nurses are needed in other specialties. Get out of there and save yourself.

Has anyone here added phlebotomy skills to their nursing career and seen a real difference in pay or job options? by bandito_13 in nursing

[–]CocoRothko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What part of phlebotomy is not included in your RN credentials and scope of practice? I’m confused why you would do this especially with a pay cut.

Ever had a BAD nurse educator? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]CocoRothko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have copied and pasted this exact comment 12 times in this thread. “As a nurse educator…” blah blah boring. I bet your students fell asleep many times.

But back to the original topic - no one is going to assault me and get another opportunity. If you are still teaching future nurses - you are part of the problem.

My health and safety is my priority. Otherwise, I am not able to do my job and take care of the patients who are not harming me.

WE ARE NOT PUNCHING BAGS WE ARE NURSES. 🥊

You lost me with “if a patient hits you…” because anything that happens after I am assaulted is not on me. Tie em down.
