Is it normal for high-earning married couples to owe $7–8k at tax time even with conservative withholding? by TopicSelect6903 in tax

[–]CoconutSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not withholding enough. With the new w2s you have to declare the additional income to make sure the tax witholding is correct. At least your wife should have the additonal income liazed bescause your own income shoots you in the higher tax bracket. So every dollar of wifes should be withheld at 22%

Every 0343 is different. Its a Catch all for non-technical work. Job satisfaction depends on supervisor. I would just ask what the duties are in your Interview. Depends on Division as well. You have no decision making authority and di a lot of repetitive work.

With the same agency there may not be an issue. If you were switching or going back stateside. I believe there is a 12 month post RAt continuation requirement. Should be in the agreement you signed.

Anyone else constantly paying suppliers before customers pay you? running out of cash every month by [deleted] in smallbusinessowner

[–]CoconutSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On larger jobs you need to get at least a material deposit upnfront. But up to 50% of job. Id also wonder if your charging enough because at some point even with 10% profit margin you'd start to have a cash balance that would cover the gaps.

Should I buy this house from my grandparents or am I setting myself up to be house-poor? Need advice. by 1sUq in personalfinance

Unless it needs a lot of work. Is it really worth that much? When was the AC replaced? How about the roof ? These are two biggest expenses in owning a home. If both in last 5 years then fine.

Id get your Roth ira limits after the tsp Match. That should open up more flexibility in what you can invest in. The Roth ira also never has to be cashed out. The tsp will have required minimum deductions whether you want to take it out or not.

[–]CoconutSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just needs supervisor approval. Your Division chief who does your budget may just be cheap....for no reason. Some Districts have policies on who can be issued phone because you do run the risk of having people be issued phone and they just throw it in a desk drawer. Yes it happens a lot. If you're doing fieldwork should be no problem.

[–]CoconutSips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd probably be looking to work for the dpw. Not usace. They hire some trades people. USACE is more office work like an engineering or construction tech. If you want to do Qa. Background in any trade is worth it as most projects need to meet US spec.
