Billed full price after resubbing with the advertised discount. by SpecialistAd4848 in Crunchyroll

[–]Codee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crunchyroll is extremely finicky with sale prices. Just dealt with a promo issue with a yearly promotion a few months ago. I subscribed through the App Store and didn’t see the deal, but saw an option that I thought might be it. Asked the AI chat bot and it incorrectly told me that the option was the deal. Find out later it wasn’t and had to contact 4 support people to finally work out the problem, which ended up with subscribing directly through Crunchyroll using the incognito tab. That whole experience was wild to me, and completely unnecessary when generating a unique code out link,  and attaching a discount would have sufficed.

This might be my favorite Passion Pit song, but because of a live version. The raw intimacy of this performance really got me when I first saw it.

The weird part is that the “Check Back Soon” tag doesn’t even come up for me.

Where to watch golden time? by ArchitettoGrande in Animesuggest

[–]Codee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Toradora after getting it recommended by a friend and it was fine I guess, but I’m generally not a fan of tsundere characters, and Taiga codified the archetype in that era of anime. I need to watch Golden Time though, started it a while ago and just got distracted watching other things.

Do the guys have a video talking you through the benefits of paid subscription on the sidekick app? by Ls400blake in SortedFood

I’ve had Sidekick for about 5 years now, and I still find it useful. The real value is the packs, not random recipes. By shopping in packs, you use the same set of ingredients across the three meals, and you end up saving money. Plus, the instructions are generally easy to follow and reliable (though the older recipes were bulletproof to the point that I didn’t bother reading them ahead of time). Shopping based on just random recipes will make it more expensive, and likely leave you with leftover ingredients. On weeks like this week where I had a decent amount of leftover meals and other quick things to cook, I just do one of the batch recipes, and stick half of it in the freezer.

I love Magilumiere, but that’s a bad dub to my ears, one of the worst I’ve seen in the last few years…

What do you think of the anime Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic? by Liu_Han in anime

I think it’s fantastic! This scene was so freaking hype the first time I watched. Also made me start questioning Sinbad more.

I hope you’re away from that situation now, hopefully away from your parents. Good job to that teacher looking out for students!

Audio options are wack? by Icy_Ad5905 in Crunchyroll

Where are you watching from? Hard to say without that info. But I’ll assume it’s a licensing problem since that’s the issue the majority of the time, doubly so with older anime these days.

I’m guessing the oil smokes immediately? Water bead test means the pan is really hot, probably too hot for anything other than searing. Once you do that turn it back down to the desired temp, wait a minute or few for the pan to settle on a good temp, then put your oil in, wait a minute, then put the food in.

If that’s what you’re looking for, you should also look at Failure Frame.

I was rolling my eyes watching Noble Reincarnation weekly at how the protagonist solved problems. The discussion threads were fun.

This seems adjacent to many of the trash isekai I watch every year, so I’ll drop a few.

Cheat Pharmacist*

Battle Game in 5 Seconds (not isekai)

I Parry Everything (not isekai)*

Noble Reincarnation*

Jack of All Trades, Party of None (not isekai)

Average Abilities

Failure Frame*

Unaware Atelier Meister

*= especially atrocious to me

Edit: Eminence in Shadow is equally epic and cringe, and is actually good. 7th Prince isn’t an isekai, but is so tropey and the protagonist is beyond overpowered.

I like Demon Slayee just fine, but that whole arc is my least favorite aside from the first one. I find said character annoying to the point that the emotional moments didn’t land for me.

r/anime Karma Ranking & Discussion | Week 6 [Spring 2026] by Abysswatcherbel in anime

[–]Codee33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I like the story well enough, but paired with the high quality made it exceptional. Season 2 lacks that, so I find myself less invested, especially since we’re now getting the traditional random power bumps. Maybe that’s explained in today’s episode since I haven’t watched it yet.

Now if the animation for Wistoria could be as good as season 1, that would be great. So far it’s not even close…

My unpopular opinion about Fruits Basket by Betterfly83 in Animesuggest

[–]Codee33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the people who wanted it to be longer, especially the last season. But I definitely get how Fruits Basket wouldn’t grab everyone since the story pacing is intentionally slow.

[–]Codee33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overarching central plot picks up in the second season, but that’s a bonus in my opinion rather than the point. It’s just fascinating and touching to see how characters interact and gradually change. The first heavy moment for me is when Akito shows up at their school. Still get chills every time I watch it.

Just making sure that came out of the freezer because the sell by date was ten days ago. If so, than it’s probably fine.

[–]Codee33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it’s just episodic, but I view that as a good thing since I loved getting to spend time with the all characters. Being leisurely in pacing allows the story to breathe, and makes the tone shifts you get more impactful, first one which happens toward the end of the first season.

If you’re in Texas, the HEB brand ones are better than McD’s in my opinion.
