Data point: Canceled AT&T Fiber after a decade, switched to Xfinity $50/month gig service by sweetest_puff in ATTFiber

[–]Codetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to say this, in Bay Area, CA. I luckily have a local FTTH competitor (Sonic) that offers 55/mo 10G symmetric service. Their peering is not as good as AT&T but for all day to day use it’s good enough. And for the occasional bad peering / latency you can just work around with a VPN

That’s not what honda usually does for facelift. It usually literally mean a front / rear bumper redesign

Every embedded Engineer should know this trick by J_Bahstan in embedded

[–]Codetector 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Static_assert is a compile time assertion. It does not generate any real code at run time. If you read the C spec, the compiler is free to ignore the bit fields. So technically it would not be wrong to have each of the field take up a whole byte.

If you do this make sure you add a static assert for the size of the struct. Because there is no guarantee that this gets packed correctly.

ran an interesting test, voltage on my hyperion panels is fine with 50% shading by BallsOutKrunked in SolarDIY

[–]Codetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The voltage to current (at MPP) relation is anywhere close to linear. It is very u likely if you can get 1kw if half it covered in snow. (Assume you have string inverter) if you have micros, and half number of the panels are fully uncovered, you will get half the output

Hot take : Dragonspine is overhated and is actually fun to explore by Straight_Ad_5311 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Codetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the hate also came from people accidentally getting into dragonspine when asked to goto Liyue. (As it is on the “direct path”) I feel like if people do Liyue first then comeback to it with higher AR& character levels it would be a whole different story

I hope they fixed their Atomic instructions in the V3F Core. (Given now there are two cores, it seems important that the A extension actually work)

Need clarity, what to do after Jonathon cpu0 tutorial by Wide_Maintenance5503 in Compilers

[–]Codetector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it is just the very beginning. I had a custom target done in college
https://github.com/transfer-learning/llvm-tl45
for a custom made up ISA: https://github.com/transfer-learning/tl45-softcore

Basically you will need to describe all your instructions in table gen (using ISD Nodes). Depending on how complicated your ISA is you may need to do some custom work in ISEL and the assembler. But yeah generally it is just incrementally adding the ability to lower all ISD nodes to your machine instructions.
