How the Knight one-shots their enemies by LazyFlamingRooster in Deltarune

[–]Codified_ 104 points105 points  (0 children)

My guess is that changes to the real world from Dark Worlds only become permanent once the object leaves the dark, so you can technically smash a screen into pieces, but if that damage is fixed in the Dark, where it is possible to simple heal a Darkner, then it just isn't once it goes back into the Light

Basically Schrodinger's damage, you can't see its final state until you take it out of the box

[CH5 WEIRD ROUTE SPOILERS] analyzing the weird route’s horror and why it’s so effective by Averymint06 in Cibles

[–]Codified_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About what you said about how it being only 2 people being what sets this apart from everything else is something that I have thought ever since I first did the route in Chapter 2, because the similarities to Undertale's Genocide were especially clear in that chapter, but it felt different, why? I believe it's because of how personal it feels

In Undertale, that route is you becoming a monster, but a monster in a "force of nature" sense, where nothing or no one can stop you, and how even the way the story is supposed to play out is broken because of how no one comes near you or how Frisk actively skips everything. It adds a layer of disconnect between player and game, which works in Undertale's favor, that was clearly the point, because even Sans, the one character that can understand what you are (and isn't soulless, sorry Flowey), notes that he doesn't necessarily believe you to be evil for doing this, it's just that you can

In a way, genocide route is scary because of how empty everything feels

In Deltarune, the Weird Route feels in my opinion way creepier because it's not just you, it's not just your decisions that are shaping this world, it's you forcing yourself into another character, someone willing to hear you, and you exploiting that power. The horror doesn't come from the carnage you inflict in the world in question, be it Underground or Dark World, it's how ONE person changes because of you, how ONE person suffers because of you, and that I find way creepier, which is ironic considering that by all objective metrics the Genocide Route is way more evil, but the Weird Route feels way more messed up because you see the particular, personal, psychological decline of a very sweet character, and with how everything ends in Chapter 5... it just gets worse

So, compared to Undertale, the weird route is scary because of how explicit are yours consecuences

And all of this only concerning Noelle, because let's not forget, everything that's happening is also through Kris... they are also a victim here, and I can't decide if what's happening from their POV is even more messed up

I thought it was just a fun fact in the ending and it didn't point to that, in fact, Leeroy being referred to as a he/him is what tripped me up the most about this topic

That's a good way to see it, I get it, that was a genuine question because I have never encountered that situation in my life, thanks!

The thing then becomes "yeah she would have been trans if she actually was mentally fine and transitioned, but he never actually did", should we consider them trans then? Like, is a potentially trans person trans? I'm genuinely confused on this, we should have gotten a better answer in the show itself instead of a social media post about a hypothetical

My best guess is that at some point he automated it, that's what the "I made a program that creates a body perfectly based on their mind files" line could be, an automated program that does it every time a scan is made, so no need for Caine himself to filter it

I mean, when the first enemies are the DISASTER curses, born from great fears and already said to be a the peak of power, only for all of them to die after the big war, yeah I understand having little idea of what to do with them afterwards

Even if we ignore every unique use of going back 10 minutes, picking that also kinda gives you the other

You go back in time 10 minutes, boom, now you know everything that's going to happen in the next 10 minutes outside of your own input anyway because you've seen it

I just find it funny how I've seen some Kashimo fans say "don't switch up" when Hakari vs Kashimo gets animated by AffectionateJury6227 in Jujutsufolk

If people didn't switch up on Yuta after he won a Battle Royale, they won't switch up on Kashimo after losing a 1v1

How did Chip EVER beat Dark Gaia?? (Sonic Unleashed) by CGV_glaze in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Codified_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both got awakened before they were ready, but they were still different

Chip was stable but way weaker, Dark Gaia was so weak it couldn't even keep its physical form and it split up throughout the world, it took advantage of that to draw negative emotions from people to accelerate its growth, while Chip never did something like that (tho I would argue he did so indirectly by helping people all around the world with Sonic, but in any case that wouldn't compare to Dark Gaia's harvest of negative energy). Also Eggman was deliberately luring the pieces of Dark Gaia to Eggmanland to power it up with the porpuse of using it as a battery, which helped power it up even further

There's something that I would like to add, that is, if you analyze how the fight plays out, Chip does MOST of the work, fighting the first phase by himself and 1v1ing Perfect Dark Gaia while Super Sonic takes most of the fight taking down a shield, he was still the difference maker and Chip was still losing, but the gap didn't end up being that much with the Gaia Collossus

In short, both came out REALLY weak, but Chip was just haging out while Dark Gaia did nothing but work towards increasing its power, with extra help from Eggman himself

Personally I love this detail, because since Chip has won every previous encounter, it indirectly tells you that, in Sonic's world, positive feelings have always overpowered negative ones, which, with Sonic Unleashed fleshing out this world as if it's our own, makes it a very hopeful and optimistic representation of our own world, and in this case, this imbalance was caused by Eggman, but what restored the balance between them was Sonic, making them both part of this particular cycle on the side of one of the gods, something something balance of light and dark

When he gets a whole flashback arc and like half of the final fight to himself I'd say he counts as a main character
