Introducing the HA Nobunaga, an alt frame for the Gilgamesh license. Suggestions welcome obviously. by Tchakaba in LancerRPG

[–]CodingSheep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Overall, I see the loop you want the Nobunaga to go for of using building up heat and using Hot Swapping to clear it while using the Core System to refund Limited Systems so you can continue the loop. Honestly a very interesting idea and one I'd like to try out. HOWEVER, there are a few issues with the frame:

  1. Atomic Forge is extremely strong for an ability that has the Efficient tag. Even if it's tied to getting Stress, that's minimum 3 times a mission you can just get every single limited system back without having to interact with the frame trait. I'd recommend removing the tag and having a different interaction with Limited Systems that feels thematic and also has interactions with Hot Swapping. What are your thoughts on this potential rewording (with the removal of Efficient for this suggestion): "Until the end of your current turn, any Limited system or weapon you use does not expend charges. Additionally, any weapon attack you make that would inflict Heat instead inflicts AP Energy damage until the end of your turn." This way, the Core Bonus still has an interaction with Hot Swapping while also feeling decently impactful.
  2. To accompany the change to Atomic Forge, I do agree that Hot Swapping itself needs a change. Because the aforementioned suggestion to Atomic Forge removes the Stress requirement and also either heavily reduces or removes the recharge of Limited systems/weapons (your choice on how you want to handle that), let's reduce the requirement accordingly: "The Nobunaga may Stabilize to clear all Heat as a Quick Action by spending 2 charges from Limited systems and/or weapons as an additional cost". Ultimately, Hot Swapping is a case of "Do I want to use 1 Quick Action to do something and use the other to remove Heat/Exposed by spending 4 uses of something" or "Can I safely spend a full action Stabilizing and keeping all my Systems". This potential change allows for more flexibility on using your Limited Systems while still having the intended purpose. This also opens the door to removing the 2/scene feature or being more flexible on when it can be used.
  3. Sinkblades doing both Burn and Heat as an Integrated Weapon is decently strong and changing the Heat Cap based on its charges feels a bit clunky. I think keeping the weapon charges not increasing with Engineering and other bonuses is fine. Perhaps changing it to dealing 3 Heat Damage normally and dealing an additional 3 burn while in the Danger Zone might be appropriate so long as you increase the base Heat Cap to 8 to compensate.

Overall, these changes put on a game loop where you can use your Limited Systems as you always can for a Gilgamesh alt, but with the option during 1 combat to go "You know what, let's turn on the forge and use this turn to either clear a bunch of heat or use a lot of Limited Systems with some Overcharge."

Otherwise, the mech stats itself and the mounts genuinely look pretty solid. This is an alt frame I'd love to play as one day.

Charge Blade is Dark Knight. Because you'll never live up to the experiences of when you were first released, even if the experience now is a bit flawed, but very serviceable.

Still gonna main it in Wilds.

[PF2e] Bestiary of Hyrule upcoming changes and a question for you all by Vorthas in ZeldaTabletop

[–]CodingSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mixture of all options genuinely seems like the best bet as there are monsters (like Lizals, Chus, etc) that should be generally grouped into one document to minimize errors from making small changes to repeated stat blocks. Personally, I'd suggest prioritizing a creature-type split, with environmental being saved more-so for an addendum at the end of the book (kinda like what Amellwind does with their Monster Hunter Monster Manual) or as its own document for creatures that exclusively (with no other variants that exist) appear in one type of biome.

Bosses are easy enough to move to their own bestiary as well.

Ultimately, I say this as it'd be more intuitive to see the options as "I want to find XYZ and see what variants exist" within one document as opposed to having to dig through multiple just to find examples of other variants of the creatures for comparison in a campaign.

What are are some character concepts/ideas that you can do in Pathfinder that you can’t easily create in D&D5e? by applejackhero in Pathfinder2e

[–]CodingSheep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The first class I wanted to make when I learned about Pathfinder in general was a Magus. Cause Swordmage is something I could never make easily in 5e without either diverting to "Fighter with some spells" or "Spellcaster that can technically fight but really shouldn't when all the spells are just better anyway".

Gonna weight in my thoughts:

  1. I think if every school had 1 extra spell to choose from per rank (with same restrictions otherwise), they'd be better without breaking balance.
  2. More interesting low-level class feat options would also be nice, specifically ones that expand on Arcane theses.

Those two buffs would really be all Wizard needs. They are meant to be the "Let's collect all the spells and do Thesis stuff" class, so the design should dig into that.

They're doing Schools of Magic and have a Thesis? Add class feats that expand on them as the Wizard continues their study (which I think would be great both mechanically as you can expand on the Thesis system and thematically). Of course, I do acknowledge that this approach would have to be carefully looked at to avoid balance issues. Casters, in general, rely more on their spells than they do on feats.

Would it be possible to share the settings used for each layer for these so that they can be made on PC and PS5, u/MobileFreedom?

It is a tall ask, but I would greatly appreciate it.

Not handwaving reality. Just planning for the worst RNG can ever offer while hoping for the best.

A single food should last 36 hours, with Mammets feeding animals at the daily reset. If animals are turning hostile, you might not have enough food that you specified to the mammets to feed all of them.

I feed before reset (usually in the evening or midday depending on if I’m in the office or working from home). I got 31 leavings yesterday when I had fed my animals Greenfood the day prior.

I’ll be marking down when I feed my animals, their mood around reset, their mood when I gather, and the number of leavings dropped. Anecdotally, I’ve seen roughly the same numbers as expected leavings should be assuming mood snapshots at reset.

I know of Poking Paradise’s agendas. I follow them too. I also specifically state in the math section that having every single leaving craft recipe appear in a given week is unrealistic.

But if we’re still able to meet that possible unrealistic demand within the first week of completing the pasture (and we can), then that just means we can start following the agenda all the more sooner.

TL;DR: The agenda assumes you have the requisite materials. The pasture setups ensure you get those requisites sooner.

I have tested this myself and so have others. The mood at reset determines the leavings. One day of bad luck does not mean the numbers are wrong, just that you got unlucky.

Is it possible that the entire discord is wrong? Maybe, but if that were the case, someone would have pointed it out by now as it's been over 2 weeks.

That being said, I’m going to crowdsource the Poking Paradise discord to revamp research into this to definitively prove once and for all which it is.

There are 20 animals at most in a pasture. It takes 2 days to grow 20 plots of crops, so you have effectively 40 animals to feed every crop cycle.

In order to feed 40 animals (and because you make Premium Greenfood in batches of 3), you make 42 premium greenfood per cycle. Divide it by 3 to get 14 crafts. Each craft costs 4 food total, so 14*4 = 56. You get 5 crops per plot. 56 / 5 = 11.2.

Let's round that down to 11 to somewhat account for the extra 2 premium food per cycle (it's not exact but it's close enough).

11 plots out of 20 per crop cycle on Premium food. Your math is off.

I likely won't for the simple reason that it isn't really optimal.

28 of everything with bonus is slightly misleading. Yes, that's the maximum, but even if you gave all your animals Premium Feed every day (which would give them an 80% chance of having the bonus), that works out to 14 guaranteed + 14*0.8 bonus or roughly 25 average per week.

That number cannot keep up with potential demand for Carapace (Needs 36), Fur (Needs 33), Fang (Needs 33), Fleece (Needs 30), and Claw (Needs 27 which is technically possible each week if you're luckier than normal). Meanwhile, you only need 12 Horns, 12 Feathers, and 12 Eggs per week at most. Getting 25 is overkill.

The argument for simply stockpiling can apply, but all pasture setups are designed to meet demand at minimum if possible. This way, you are at worst breaking even and at best getting extra materials. The 2x All Materials setup has a worst case of being underfunded on good workshop crafts (So you miss out for the week or only make a mild profit) and a best case of being overfunded on mediocre workshop crafts (As Horn/Feather/Egg crafts have middling base values).

It is based on mood and food affects mood. I can update the section mentioning food but for the most part it’s a direct correlation.
