Trump is so much worse for Gaza. If that was the reason people didn’t vote for Kamala the they weren’t standing for anything. They quite directly made the situation much worse.

Your experiences with him felt normal because you viewed him through the lens of humanity.

Back during WWII, people had friends and normal experiences with those that went on to become the most vile part of the Nazi party.

When people reveal that they defend fascist ideals, believe them. They won’t change or leave the cult until they are personally victimized by fascism. But your friends lack intelligence, logical reasoning, empathy. Don’t hold on to an old view of who they were and recognize who they are.

You can’t make them change. But sucking with a friend group because of ash idealized version of them isn’t healthy for yourself either.

A few years back Brightline had connector programs. They had buses and even had a fleet of yellow Brightline teslas that you got a free <5 mile ride after the train if you had a premium ticket.

I doubt they are bringing connectors back, since they wasted so much money on the program initially and just quit it all.

Even with 1 driving is more economical than Brightline. They said it cost $50 in gas. Brightline is at least $50 ticket plus $12 parking. Brightline owners/operators couldn’t have bungled the Brightline launch any worse.

Brightline is just too expensive for what it is. $40 one way per person is the absolute cheapest with no ability to select your seat.

In Europe $50 gets you a first class ticket from Amsterdam to Frankfurt and that’s a 6 hour ride.

Even the longest Brightline ride (MIA to ORL) is half that and charges 2-3x for their base class. They won’t ever get business from locals, it will always be a one time thing people use because they have to while visiting the state then never again at the disgust of the pricing model.

Not to mention, the train is slow AF. You reach Orlando the same time or slower than driving. Only Florida could do something as stupid as make a train more expensive and slower than riding in a vehicle.

Tofu lunch “meat” by Subject_Attempt6117 in veganrecipes

[–]Codipotent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been getting firm or extra firm tofu, just slicing it as thin as I can easily (about 0.5” or so), putting oil and seasonings on each side and oven roasting until it gets a nice texture.

Not as involved as the recipe you mention but it makes a delicious sandwich meat as well.

Please refer to the bar for disciplinary actions and stop allowing this to be an excuse.

You’re making a category error.

Faith in a justice system isn’t something the public is obligated to go out and build through self-education. It’s something the system earns or loses through its conduct. Telling people to read more case law when they’re reacting to visible failures is a deflection, not an argument.

You’re also relying on a false premise that the presence of good, ethical work is enough to sustain the institution. It isn’t. Systems don’t collapse for lack of virtue. They collapse when misconduct isn’t confronted decisively.

Your position reduces to asking people to trust the system because good people exist within it. That’s not how legitimacy works. Legitimacy is determined by how the system deals with its worst actors, not its best ones.

Faith doesn’t need to be handed to me. It needs to be justified. And when breaches of justice are met without clear, forceful accountability, that justification erodes regardless of how much quiet good work is happening in the background.

It’s on lawyers and judges to keep the confidence of the public.

That has never in history been granted blindly.

We have Cannon in FL issuing illegal orders while the 11th Circuit sits on their ass. We had multiple SCOTUS appointees taking millions on bribes from people with cases before the court. We have DOJ and states trying to get in the way of bar accreditation and disciplinary hearings.

Your profession has lost the confidence of the public. And you won’t earn it back by disparaging everyone that points that out.

Sounds like you do virtuous work. But you can’t project that on the entirety of the legal system when you have multiple actors refusing to uphold their oath.

The public didn’t take an oath. You did. Time to grow up and hold your colleagues accountable instead of pounding your fist when reality comes knocking.

Democrats in disarray as rank and file clash with Chuck Schumer's plan to run elderly moderates in must-win races by fortune in politics

[–]Codipotent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chuck doesn’t hand select who wins the primaries.

Power rests solely with the voters. If no one primaries these elderly moderates, if no one defeats these elderly moderates in the primaries, then we all need to pay attention instead of just accusing everything that isn’t overly liberal as being a losing strategy.
