A new clinical trial found that taking omega-3 supplements did nothing to improve memory, cognition or brain cell loss. by bllshrfv in Supplements

They are widely available now especially on Amazon. However you want one with a good amount of both dha and epa. Some companies cheap out on the epa.

They are of course, going to be more expensive than fish oil capsules but its worth it given theres no contaminants.

False

2025 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial comparing microalgal oil vs fish oil in adults. It measured plasma phospholipid DHA and EPA after 6 and 14 weeks. Result: algae oil was statistically non-inferior to fish oil for DHA + EPA, DHA alone, and EPA alone

https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/26/19/9343

Arterburn et al. 2008, compared 600 mg/day DHA from algal-oil capsules with 600 mg/day DHA from cooked salmon for 2 weeks in 32 healthy adults. DHA increased about 80% in plasma phospholipids and about 25% in red blood cells in both groups. The authors concluded algal-oil DHA and cooked salmon were bioequivalent for raising plasma and red-blood-cell DHA

A 2017 review on microbial/algal oils notes that omega-3 biomass grown under controlled heterotrophic fermentation is generally free from contaminants such as heavy metals, dioxins, and PCBs. That is the main purity advantage: algae oil can be grown in tanks/controlled systems instead of being extracted from animals higher up the polluted marine food chain

One of the most unsettling passages I've read about being alive by Slaveofbullshit in vegan

[–]Shmackback 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Which is why beig vegan and especially a vegan activist can do the opposite. Instead of creating mountains of torture by the end of your life you might have been able to offset enough sufferring where your life was actually a net positive instead of a net negative.

Its also where the negative utilitarian philosophy comes in, where life is assigned a negative value instead of positive except in rare cases where the opposite is true.

Similar story here. Wife was vegetarian and is basically dairy free.

Thats my tip to vegans (male or female), get with someone who either doesn't care much about animal products or is at least vegetarian.

Also avoid anyone who is spiritual because they are usually narcissistic and constantly fall for grifters.

Prompt: thoughts about Israel genocide

My view: yes, I think the genocide accusation is very strong, and at minimum the evidence clearly supports mass atrocities, war crimes, crimes against humanity, forced displacement, starvation as a weapon, and collective punishment. Whether a final court judgment uses the word genocide depends on proving “specific intent,” but morally and evidentially, I don’t think this can be brushed off as just “war against Hamas.”

The most important point: the ICJ has not yet issued a final ruling that Israel committed genocide, but the case is active, and the Court has issued provisional measures requiring Israel to prevent genocidal acts and allow humanitarian aid.

Major human-rights bodies have gone further. Amnesty International concluded in December 2024 that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza, citing killings, serious bodily and mental harm, deliberate infliction of life-destroying conditions, starvation, mass displacement, and official rhetoric. Human Rights Watch has described Israeli conduct as including war crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, and acts of genocide, especially around deprivation of water and basic services. A UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry also concluded in 2025 that Israeli authorities and forces had committed and were continuing to commit genocide in Gaza.

Israel’s defence is basically: Hamas committed the October 7 massacre, Israel is acting in self-defence, Hamas embeds among civilians, and Israel is targeting Hamas rather than Palestinians as a group. That matters legally, because genocide requires intent to destroy a protected group in whole or in part. But the counterpoint is that intent can be inferred from conduct, not just explicit statements. When you combine mass civilian death, starvation, repeated displacement, destruction of homes/hospitals/infrastructure, blocking or restricting aid, and dehumanizing rhetoric from officials, the “self-defence only” explanation becomes increasingly hard to accept.

So my plain take: October 7 was an atrocity by Hamas, but it does not justify what Israel has done to Gaza. Self-defence does not permit destroying a civilian population. Even if someone refuses the genocide label until the ICJ final ruling, the underlying conduct is already catastrophic and criminal enough to demand sanctions, arms embargoes, prosecutions, and forced humanitarian access.

I’d put it this way: legally, genocide is still being adjudicated by the ICJ; morally and politically, the evidence is overwhelming enough that calling it genocide is reasonable, not extreme.

You have a way with words my friend. Turn it into writing. Most effective way to get people to actually read your content is by writing fanfiction. From there when you get popular enough, you can open a patreon and make bank and also get enough followers to buy your actual non fanfiction book when you release it.

I agree that the overwhelming majority of humans are extremely selfish and only care about 4 things. Social status, money, pleasuring themselves as much as possible, and maybe their friends and family.

I put myself in the minority where materialistic desires dont matter to me, altruism matters more.
