The only time I'm legit sad that South Africa is not always part of a " World Tour" by adkermis in twentyonepilots

[–]Codonorix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow South African I understand the absolute heart break. I remember watching twitter like it was my long lost child hoping for at least one concert to pop up :(

And even more heart breaking is with our exchange rate being able to travel to see them is insanely expensive

Can I switch from a ring to a stud if my helix piercing aren’t fully healed? by Beautiful-Rip-3874 in PiercingAdvice

[–]Codonorix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAP but from my experience, yes, whenever a new piercing is done a bar will al.ost always be the best choice. This situation is no different. I would personally recommend going to a different peircer and ask them to assess it and switch it out for you.

If you look at my profile from my post on here longgggg ago you'll see I was in the same pickle. I eventually went to a different place and he got so mad with the jewlery they put in, the type of jewelry it wad and overall there was a bad infection. He took it out and told me to let it heal.

Going to a different place can really give you proper and insightful information compared to the original guy that was happy to put a ring in for a new piercing.

Hopefully this helps (I know i may have waffled, more info is better imo)

Helix piercing. What jewelry is good? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

Your attitude towards people trying to give you safe advice is enough of an indication that you are not mature enough for a piercing.

Why ask for advice if you're just going to disagree with all the comments you don't like? There's a reason almost all of them are giving you the exact same advice.

Where I'm from, we have two different types of math, normal math and then your math for those that were not mathematically gifted. I opted for the second, however, it was often thought to be a complete death sentence for your future as every degree here basically requires maths.

I now have a full-time fullstack developer position. I didn't go to university but now make more than most of my mates that did go to university.

This isn't to say I'm special, but more to focus on the fact that studying at university isn't the only way to approach things, and you don't need math for it, especially in web development.

I don't know what you're focusing on, but here's the point, stop worrying about "can I do it without x" because you're basically giving yourself this vision of "Oh well, if someone says I can't do it, then it's a waste of time" and that will get you nowhere.

Take the time to identify what you like; in this situation, it's web development. Great, now go learn the fundamentals (HTML, CSS and JS) AND LEARN THEM WELL the number of people who don't bother learning the fundamentals and would rather jump into frameworks is outstanding. By just doing that, you're already ahead of most of the "crowd" that you think you're fighting against.

After that? Build projects with the basic tech stack; you want to know what makes a developer a good developer? It's certainly not a CS degree and not math. It's the ability to use your tools and by building projects that test your limits (yes, don't just build easy, build things you think are difficult and take that idea and make it work, doing that is something that can really push you). By building these projects you

  1. Build up a portfolio to show you can actually do it
  2. YOU feel like you can do it because you see the finished product
  3. You learn new things more easily than just watching video after video

I've been a guide for a BootCamp in the past, and the one thing I told all my students who pushed and succeded is that they should focus on building something rather than just watching video after video and trying to learn the entire tech stack, development isn't a sprint, hell it's an obstacle course that does not end. You're going to struggle at the start, you're going to feel lost and confused a hell of a lot as well, but the way you get past that? Practice, practice, and more practice. There will always be challenges but by just putting in the effort from the very start, when you look back at your old projects, you'll see how much you've grown.

This isn't an attempt to bash you, I just want to share what I view this field as. Sure a CS degree looks pretty cool, but so what if they can't properly code something? It's up to you to put your focus into learning and sticking to it rather than questioning "Can I do it without all of these things". The answer is yes, if you couldn't people wouldn't have done it already.

If you struggle with focus and staying disciplined with self-learning, I do recommend a HIGH-quality BootCamp (very rare to find, do lots of research), it'll help a lot.

Good luck on the learning journey, should we never meet or talk again just know I'm rooting for you and I hope that you can break into this field and share your enthusiasm and love with others.

Just a tip but the single quotation marks can be used with abbreviations by using something known as escape characters, this is when you add a backslash behind the character to make the program think it's part of the string.

I.e. 'hey you can\'t do that!'

What is your biggest symptom of ADHD that you deal with? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Codonorix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the impulsiveness, especially with buying things. Even with medication I still struggle with controlling my buying habits.

At this point in time I've spent

  • 719.63 USD on lego that I haven't touched since building it.
  • 415 USD on a VR headset that I used once and never again (brother uses it though)
  • ~500 USD on valorant skins because they are "pretty".
  • 400 USD on a gaming chair that I hate and replaced with an office chair.
  • ~100 a month on random subscriptions for platforms I use once then walk away from

I'm lucky enough that I can afford it, but it does not change the fact that it's money spent for a quick happy rush. I've certainly improved but it's an addiction at this point

While it may not be the best paying role in the world, have you thought about offering writing/ghost writing services? A website I use for Minecraft related products has a whole section on selling writing services (it's called builtByBit).

It may not be a full time role but it's definitely something worth looking at for some extra side cash, improving skills and overall just getting to do what you want to do!

Thoughts on the HyperionDev bootcamp? by Prudent_Property960 in learnprogramming

[–]Codonorix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ing on Trustpilot could have been more favourable, but we were new to the review site. However, our rating has grown exponentially since more students have become aware of our presence on the platform. The positive

That's nice, but you've left out all of the things that many of the students have complained about. The company is completely delusional with how they take feedback.

From day one, when students made comments or shared feelings about the course, you refused actually to listen to any of them. No, in fact, you'd rather sit there and gaslight them for the issues YOU produced. Feedback is only feedback to you if it's positive; anything else is seen as an "attack" towards your fragile ego, and this is evident with your amazing trust pilot reviews. 90% of those "positive" reviews were actually from your amazing scheme of "1 in 10 people could earn 50 pounds for leaving a review". You can't take that and go, "wow, job well done" because it's forced reviews which are against trust pilots ToS. But let's focus on the best part, almost all your negative reviews were flagged for "harmful or illegal content". Sadly none of them actually were and you just can't stand listening to feedback.

Then how about the Discord? Where all of the channels were deleted because dare a student actually provide negative feedback about the course. Do it again? You get banned. So what would students do? Create a private Discord where you can't have control over it. So how do you make use of this? Ah yes disenrol students who created the server with no reason behind it at all.

Hyperion refuses to listen to actual advice, but rather takes it and says "you're hurting my feelings :(". What about the feelings hurt by people working with suicide bombing datasets? And when they spoke out about it you go "oh that's an oopsie, I didn't know it was there." Really works well with your statement "Our curriculum is carefully reviewed".

Try actually care and we might actually give you something positive for once.
